Former Deputy Mayor caught in traffic accident

shoman accidentWhile Henry was documenting the removal of derelict vehicles, his camera caught onto an accident on St. Thomas Street. It involved a KBH security guard and a former Deputy Mayor Yasmin Shoman.  He got a good view of the accident and he says that it was the KBH driver who was at fault.

Philip ‘Fada’ Henry

“I was removing derelict vehicles from the St. Thomas area and I come up to this accident. I grabbed my camera and I went out there doing a little video shots when I realize it was Miss Shoman who was involved in this accident with a KBH driver. Miss Shoman was coming up St. Thomas towards the hospital and she was making a left turn back into St. Thomas—you know where you make that u-turn and the KBH driver was coming out of Lizaragga coming across when the driver collided into Miss Shoman and dragged her to the middle of the road. Miss Shoman was kinda shook up she but resumed from there.”

Incorrect information given by Shoman. She was at fault for pulling out into the flow of traffic from in front of Dr. Valdez while the KBH officer was passing on St Thomas St. Note that if the ‘pretty’ story was like the way she said, her vehicle would have been hit on the other side. Lizarraga is the street where the blue car is. But not to worry, her money will buy ‘a lot of things’.

Damn, she d drive a cadillac; lol, am sure it won’t be her fault as Yvonne said. This country is turning into a full fledge aristocracy.

Wow this country has a lot of haters. If you google Yasmin Shoman you might find out what good she has done for this country. She has been seen and rewarded for her achievements abroad it is a shame that her own country cannot do the same. She was rich from the day she was born and so did not need to thief the country to buy a Cadillac. All her paychecks were given to the poor and she was always there for the people who can attest to this. So get your facts straight before you point an accusing finger cause I’m more than certain that someone in your family has benefited from some good she has done for this country. The donation of ambulances, dialysis machines, medication, fire engines, hurricane relief containers and the list goes on. Even so much as helping bury the dead and pay off medical bills from her own pocket. Not a bad thing can be said of her with any shred of evidence to back it.

She has even received the very coveted Dr. King award by close friends of the president of the United States, yet you dont see her boasting and gloating or making commercials on her many achievements. Stop being political people and start seeing the facts. Stop hating your fellow Belizeans for what material things they own. We will get nowhere by pulling each other down. If you work hard or your parents worked hard why should we not enjoy life? Or should u forever live worrying what people like Yvonne and slikrik with their judgmental little pointing fingers might say. If they dont know how you earn your money it must be something wrong! COME ON MAN! Start growing Belize, change the mentality!

Just wanted to set the record straight for that idle mind who was blaming Ms Shoman for the crash two weeks ago. Maybe if you had the pleasure of knowing her you’d know that she would not twist a story merely and blame someone else. I’ve known her for many many years, and the reason why I still have faith in a few politicians is because she is one of the very few who is honest. Trust me, if Yasmin had caused that accident, she would have admitted it. And how dare you drag her wealth into this!

  5. Yvonne says:

I cant help but to concur that Ms Shoman is a wonderful lady and I give two thumbs up for that. …I am not being sarcastic either. The bottom line is, the accident was her fault…whether she is a good woman or not. Sometimes it is difficult to accept blame that might tarnish our good reputation. So it is.

  6. Asieh says:

I think you people should put this bleedin’ accident with Ms Shoman to rest. I witnessed the whole thing from in front of my friend’s business on St Thomas Street that evening and Ms Shoman DID NOT cause the accident. Now I don’t know the lady, except that she is Belize City’s accomplished Deputy Mayor, so i have nothing to gain from this. Clearly the taxi driver was at fault as all the evidence will show in court. And really, i think you people who are laying blame on Ms Shoman do actually come across to be a little envious. If she had even caused it, that wouldn’t tarnish her reputation as you seem to wish. But your commnts proves one thing, you clarly do not know traffic laws and i would not want you to have a driver’s license, or worse, become a traffic officer! Lol!

  7. Isiah says:

If Yasmin Showman was making a left, chances are that she imposed the accident. She may accomplished greatness; but she is due to make a mistake.

  8. Glenn says:

You know you people are carried way too carried away over a stupid accident. If Asieh said she witnessed the accident then all that makes her is an eyewitness in court, not a crony or a thief or anyone with another Escalade. Leave the lady alone and stop being petty and shallow, Anonymous. You don’t know how anyone is living to be casting stones. Besides, I know the Shoman family and they have been wealthy from time immemorial. They don’t need the country’s money in order to live. It would really look better on you if you’d stop meddle in people’s life. More importantly, before you go judging others, check your own backyard. It probably needs a proper overhaul.

  9. Yvonne says:

I blame you though, Fada. Come on man, you don’t just TURN ‘back’ into traffic. You check your rearview mirror…stick your head out the window if you don’t have one… or…something that will ensure you are in the green before you end up with a foul being called on you. Asieh kindly do a site check of St. Thomas near the POI and make your best judgement on how a U-Turn can be accomplished… and don’t forget to check your rearview mirror before you try.
