Japan Day and an Evening with the Stars in the city this weekend

Just in case you don’t have plans to travel outside of Belize City, well you can still attend City based events throughout the weekend that will keep you entertained and relaxed.  Safiyyah has the highlights.

Hey I’m Safiyyah and this is What’s happening Belize?

Tonight there will be a concert called “An evening with the Stars”. This concert is being brought to you by the Association for Belizean Artists first. The concert will be held inside the Bliss tonight at 8pm. There will be quite an impressive list of performers like Lord Rhaburn, Denise Castillo, Carlos Perrote, Ernestine Carballo and many, many more. You can make it a date night and go and check it out.

Have you ever wanted to learn a little more about another culture? Well now is your chance to get started. This Saturday there will be an official Japan Day happening at the Bliss Center. The fun will run from 1pm to 5pm. There will be so much to see and do. I hung out with one of the organizers and she taught me a lot of cool stuff…..

Cool huh? Remember if you get there early you’ll have times to visit the booths and learn things like origami, Japanese Art and calligraphy. You’ll also be able to try on a traditional Japanese costume and sample sushi! Sound so fun. And don’t forget that you can win cash prizes for dressing up as your favorite cartoon character and getting in on the competition. If you get the later in the afternoon you can head over to the main stage and see the musical performances and the traditional dance and Karate demonstration. It’s a fun filled afternoon and it’s completely free so make sure you check it out at the Bliss this Saturday.

I have two events for you to look out for next weekend. The first is happening in Corozal. It’s the Paraiso government school fair happening on Saturday at the Paraiso Central Park. This fair will have lots of food, drinks, games and much more. So if you’re up north next weekend, look out for that.

If you’re out west next weekend then you can head out to El rancho in Belmopan. They will be having s Beer fest competition. The doors will open at nine pm and they will be giving away a lot of goodies.
