Two boats stolen from Lighthouse Reef

boat1Thieves are in almost every nook and cranny.  Not even the residents on Lighthouse reef have been spared from the crime wave that has washed over the country.  On Sunday night, just before two a.m., two boats were stolen from Lighthouse Reef. The ‘Huracan’ and ‘Et Too’ are the property of Karel Levrau and Ruth Devacht, the owners of Huracan Diving Ltd on Long Caye.  After learning about the theft, a friend of the boat owners called News Five from Washington D.C. to offer a reward for any information that can lead to the return of the boats.

Via Phone: Mark Orth, Offering Reward for Stolen Boats

“They were stolen from Lighthouse Reef at Long Caye next to Halfmoon Caye. That was on Sunday night at about two a.m. They hosted the NBC crew with Matt Lauer last year and that did a lot to promote Belize. They’ve worked very hard to create the dive center out there and it’s two twenty-three foot boats and they really have worked really hard and they need some help with this. The first boat is the Huracan. The registration number is BZ1983. It’s a twenty-three foot with a new Suzuki 115 four stroke. The second boat was the ET Too, twenty-three foot with a 115 four stroke Suzuki, registration FC1490. Both boats are dark blue with white interior. They need some help finding these. Nobody likes a boat thief and we’re offering a one thousand reward for anybody that can help recover and apprehend these people.”

A reward of one thousand dollars is being offered for the recovery of the two boats.

The boats were found at Glovers Reef by the Fisheries departement. They were completely stripped. We would like to ask you to be on the lookout for 2 engines now. A suzuki 115hp 4 stroke engine with serial number # 11501F-8817 and a mercury 115hp 4 stroke engine. We want to thank everybody that helped us in retrieving the boats and especially Alicia Eck Manager glovers reef marine park, Belize fisheries Departement.
