The missing M-sixteen rifle that disappeared from two sleeping B.D.F. soldiers and one police officer two weeks ago has been found in an open lot and police are of the view that the person who stole it, led them to it. The missing M-sixteen was found last Friday, at about six a.m., in a bushy lot located in the Jane Usher Boulevard area by a team of police officers. According to police, twenty-four year old Alex Garcia of Jane Usher Boulevard reportedly confessed to stealing the high powered rifle. This morning, Garcia, a fisherman who claims he is a regular on George Street appeared before Magistrate Albert Hoare and was charged with theft of the rifle. Garcia was unrepresented and pleaded not guilty. The court prosecutor, Sergeant Aracelli Petillo objected to bail on the grounds of the prevalence of the crime and that Garcia is a flight risk since he is a Honduran national. Bail was denied and Garcia will be on remand until his next court date on March twenty-fourth. rifleThe rifle was stolen on February fourteenth from the custody of Private Hubert Jones, Private Faustino Coc and police officer, Norman Lewis. The three were assigned to duties in the Rocky Road area and according to Jones, they fell asleep for about half an hour and when they woke up at about four, the rifle was gone. Garcia was picked up by police last Thursday and on Friday, he gave police a caution statement in which he disclosed the location of the missing M-sixteen rifle, which was found on the same street where he lives.
