Antelope Street resident charged after shootout

Ronald Rivers

Ronald Rivers

In the lower court, twenty-five year old Ronald Rivers was charged with Attempted Murder following a shootout which occurred on Antelope Street Extension two weeks ago.  On February twelfth, at about ten-thirty p.m., police acting upon information of a shooting incident, visited the K.H.M.H. trauma room where they saw thirty-three year old Michael Usher suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper left side and center of his back. A police investigation revealed that at about ten-twenty that night Usher was visiting his girlfriend Brenda Tillett, a resident of Antelope Street Extension.  According to Usher, Rivers approached them and pulled out a firearm and fired several shots at him.  Rivers, also a resident of the same area, appeared before Chief Magistrate Margaret Gabb McKenzie where he was slapped with three counts including the attempted murder of Usher.  He was additionally charged with Use of Deadly Means of Harm and Dangerous Harm. Due to the nature of the offense, Rivers was denied bail.  He was unrepresented in court and was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until May fifth.
