Wax House resident shot to death on Prince Street

Jeffrey Kelly

Turning to the weekend’s homicide’s, Jeffery Martindale Kelly was shot at least seven times on Monday night while he stood at the corner of Prince Street and the canal side near Deng’s store.  He lived for the past eleven years at a popular home in the neighborhood known as ‘Wax House’ along with friends who say that Kelly was a law abiding citizen.  By all accounts he was not involved in any gang or criminal activity.  His family members did not see Kelly often and his girlfriend did not wish to appear on camera to talk about his life. But Police Press Officer Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood spoke about Kelly not only as the latest statistic addition to the murder statistics but also as a friend.

Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Public Relations Officer

“Kelly was at the Chinese store at the corner of Prince Street and East Canal waiting to be served and this was around seven o’clock p.m. when  he was approached by a dark complexioned male on a bicycle who fired several shots at him, fatally injuring him. Police recovered seven expended nine mm casings or shells from the scene and the investigation continues because we’re trying to establish the identity of the assailant.”

Jose Sanchez

“Was Kelly known to be involved in any criminal activity or gang?”

Fitzroy Yearwood

“Not to my knowledge. I knew him personally aside from my capacity as a police officer, I knew him. I didn’t know him to be related to any gangs. I wouldn’t’ say this was a part of any gang rivalry.”

Another senseless, motiveless, cowardice act by another waste of human life. this is becoming despicably intolerable and if the police will do nothing about this, vigilantes will take it upon themselves. I mean, why isnt there a police officer on every corner in that damn neighborhood. Everybody knows that area is close to the george street area where most of the city’s nonsense is being dispersed from.

Gabla death was a mistake, they killed a very noble person. He was good to everyone around him, i know for a fact he had no beef with anyone. The PM need to ask the queen or who so ever he needs to ask to start hanging back in Belize. This is bs that we as a people can’t even go home for a vacation or to live without beibng scared. The PM should know the more people dont visit Belize the more money Belize lose. Common sense PM. People are scared!
