Woman who stabbed her foe in the throat is spared prison time

Theophelia Brakeman

Theophelia Brakeman

Sentencing was reserved for this morning in the case of twenty-three old Theophelia Brakeman after Magistrate Sharon Frazer found her guilty of grievous harm. The wait was worth her while because the mother was spared from going back to the Hattieville Prison. According to Fraser the few nights Brakeman spent in jail gave her an idea of what life is like behind bars. With that Brakeman got a suspended sentence of eighteen months but told she must stay out of any trouble for the next two years. Magistrate Frazer told Brakeman that she took into consideration her plea for leniency and that she had expressed remorse.  Last Thursday, Brakeman was found guilty of one count of Grievous Harm after the stabbing of forty four year old Amelia Castillo on the neck area and the chest. On July tenth 2009, Castillo was walking through Pink’s Alley when she was attacked by Brakeman who was wielding a twelve inch knife in her face. After hearing that she was now free to go, Brakeman emerged from the court room a happy woman and hugged her son and relatives who were outside the courtroom.

I do not think this woman should be set free after she almost killed someone, this was not a petty crime, where she stole something for the first time, she nealry killed another person.

Well, at least she gets to go home to her kid, or perhaps I should not be so happy for her kid, because her mother action tells me she is also a danger to her own child.

god forbid “if her kid makes her angry……one day”.

wow, yea, sorry for her kids, I think this woman should get some counseling, or else!!! she might do something worse since she realize she got away this time! the question is WHAT JUSTICE DID THE VICTIM GOT????

With all the violence in Belize, one would think that we as Belizeans are living in Afghanistan, yet our Judicial System continues to fail us with mixed messages. God forbid if that idiot would have committed murder, then what would have been her sentence? or will there be any retaliation from the victim, who might also get similar sentencing? What the hell are we coming to people? Bad enough that we have to endure poverty with the “Jackasses” that are confused and arrogant who were elected by the people to fix this and other problems, and yet they allow these nonsense. Just imagine what the outside world is thinking about Belize, moreso we as Belizeans should focus on PEACE and LOVE among ourselves.

actually they must be scared to visit, knowing that if this would happening to them, the person would get-away with it.

The belizean people have longed stepped over that line between love and hate, peace and war. The leaders are bad examples, so belize will remain a third-world country, povert stricken till the old leaders are dead and gone, and new leaders take the reighs of belize.
