PM to Musa: “Stubborn jackass and I will be your stubborn driver”

Said Musa
Earlier we reported on the budget for the new financial year and the additional taxes that will be imposed. But the House meeting would not be over without the usual dose of mudslinging. And as it has in the past, the arrows of Prime Minister Dean Barrow were slung again at his predecessor, Said Musa. By any measure, it was a new low in parliament. Here is how it went from nasty to plain vile.
John Briceño, Leader of Opposition
“So that the prime minister obviously is more concerned about looking after his deficits as opposed to plight and the need of productive sector. As usual, the prime minister is going to be attacking the messenger instead of the message. But he can attack the messenger as much as he wants, but this is not going to bring down the cost of living no matta wat. We need to vote against these amendments, Mr. Speaker.”
Said Musa
“Mr. Speaker, I will make a very brief intervention. No matter how it is said, the truth of the matter is that when you strip away all the technical jargon in these amendments—whether it be the Central Bank or the treasury bills or the international financial banks—strip it all away and look at what is happening, it is to afford this UDP government the ability to borrow more from commercial banks in Belize utilizing the Central Bank through the treasury notes. They can’t get away from that. That is a simple fact. Why are we increasing the treasury notes to ten year bond; the Barrow bond for ten years? It is to give him the ability to be able to use these monies and not required to pay back for it. This is the new Barrow bond and he can’t get away from that. Thank you.”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“You know dealing with the member for Fort George first. Mr. Speaker, I say again that I continue to be shocked that he can continue to speak, that he suddenly regained his voice and he intervenes so blithely, not particularly effectively, but just as though he doesn’t have a care in the world vis a vi, the debt that he owes to the Belizean people, which could only be partially repaid if he kept his mouth shut as a form of apology for all he did. I just want to say this Mister Speaker. I was reading a book, an Afghan writer and there was a phrase in the book which I suppose must be Afghan. It is apparently a traditional saying. You know what it is? “A stubborn jackass needs a stubborn driver.” You are the stubborn jackass and I will be your stubborn driver every time; every time.”
John Briceño
“Language Mr. Speaker.”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“Every time you get up to persist in your outrage against the Belizean people, I will be here to flog you and to chastise you.” I won’t stop until I hang a bell around…”
Emil Arguelles, Speaker of the House
“Honorable prime minister, honorable prime minister.”
Said Musa
“You are a disgrace to this nation for a prime minister to be speaking like that; utter disgrace.”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I won’t finish until I hang a bell around your neck as in the days of old what they do with lepers because that’s what you are, a moral leper in this country, and everybody should be alerted to when you are passing or when you are speaking to avert their nose. That’s what I think of you. Can I now deal with the leader of the opposition?”
Said Musa
“When Zenaida Moya had…”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“Am I allowed to speak mister speaker? I am allowed to continue?”
Emil Arguelles
“Do you have a point of order honorable member?”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“I am speaking. I am speaking.
Said Musa
“What is the point of order?”
Emil Arguelles
“No honorable member, are you saying a point of order?”
Said Musa
“It’s the Leader of the Opposition’s point of order.”
Emil Arguelles
“Leader of the Opposition, your point of order.”
John Briceño
“The un-parliamentary language that the prime minister is using in this National Assembly.”
Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“A jackass is a donkey.”
John Briceño
“Fortunately we’ve had the students that have just left because it would have been a shame to hear the prime minister speaking in such manner in this honorable House Mister Speaker. Luckily these students have left.”
That exchange was almost as bad as when the then area rep Michael Finnegan used the “B” word to describe the former speaker of the House, for which he had the sense to later apologize.

The way this system is set up is same game different player cause both party do the same thing and it doesn’t matter who gets voted in they all for the same reason. One thing about PUP though at least there were people getting help. Now you can’t even find or see ministers for our constituency. You don’t know who or where to go to for help. I would really like to know the days and location our ministers are available to see and hear us. Clearly the PM does not know what he’s doing; the only thing he knows is his profession as a lawyer and is using that to get by. Taking people to court, go through records and rounding up poor people for outstanding tax which they could not afford to pay because of low income and high cost of living. Now he’s making things more difficult with the increase in tax. I knew this would happen just like they did last time they introduce (VAT) Value Added Tax but the people mek they come right back and trick with the little bit of money they gave away knowing they would make that back by the millions. People please wake up and smell the coffee the next time you get the opportunity make the right decision don’t do it for money do it for yourself. MONEY is the root to all EVIL. GOOD ova EVIL.
Did anyone saw the Melvin Hulse Documentary after the newscast last night ? What a shame! They are pulling this for the upcoming village council election! Politics in Belize has gotten out of context! hate it, and hating it more everyday. Only their closest friends reap the benefits… cruelty to humanity.. poor gets poorer.. rich keep on getting richer… i’ve seen it happen in front of my own eyes and i wish we can call names. i will start my undercover and start recording conversation, video tape transaction and put start a new blogger against politic corruption and especially in the police department.. craziness..
Was just reading the comments posted and it seems like a lot of people are choosing sides. It’s not an issue of weather you’re a supporter of Mr Barro Mr Musa – it’s simply pointing out the obvious – respect begots respect. How can i claim to b an educated person but feel i have the right – as an elected official – to address one of my peers (and i use the word loosely) in that manner. Children listen and look up to the PM n regardless of his personal feelings about Mr Musa – professionalism should always come first. I cannot tell the PM what he said was wrong – but the venue for what he said was a poor choice!
I was a hard UDP many years ago,but I hate to mention this when they get elected all UDP\ministers they forget the people,we elect a gov’t to provide with more employment, better health care, give lands to those who don’t have 1,provide with more scholarships, better oportunities for all like the PUP,but with this ARROGANT Mr.Barrow gov’t things have changed, there is so much nepotism, victimisation, even their own UDP supporters they are victimising…so who can we look at for help? when the only one getting the opportunity is mr barrow he’s $3.5 million dollars richer !see mrs lois young barrow how much is she collecting too?she’s a hipocrite, see mayor zenaida moya how much has she stolen?Mr.Barrow promised to end corruption and its gotten worst under the UDP, we need a gov’t that will work for all BELIZEANS……not for himself or his cronies..barrow really no got shame! at least Mr.Musa did’t gave the order to shoot at the cane farmers in Orange Walk at BSI,”I still remember his words “IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN…I SHALL DO IT AGAIN! THAT IS NOT MY INDUSTRY -I REPEAT,THAT IS NOT MY INDUSTRY!”………that will always be in your consience mr dean. I don’t know if u can sleep in peace at nite. Stop blaming the PUP FOR UR FAILURES, all the big loans that the UDP\Esquivel gov’t did during the UDP term the PUP had to pay for it…after tropical storm Arthur u can’t even put a brigde in the south. Please do someting .how longer do we have to wait.
i try to start a business and also try to send a big company to belize so as to get job for the belizean people i spoke to a employee @ dfc he said they dont need any outsider to invested
in belize , this company wanted to open a factor to teach kids to build homes and also sell the homes to other central american country . NOW the company took the ivestment to another country to africa.
SUCH A SHAME
musa deserves it he stole so mcuh now he is trying to justify and open his mouth in the house to talk about moral issues he is a jackass and dean kick his ass and be is subborn driver
hmmm jejej, 2 of them da a jackass, how much has dean barrow stolen in less that 2 years, and before he comes out from office? he is $3.5 million dollars rich ! u can imagine when he gets out. so whats d difference between two of them?
It is a shame what went on in Orange Walk re the Village Council Elections. A thorough investigation should have been conducted before any arrests were made in order to determine who initiated the fight, but as it is the whole matter seems to have been politicised as only the supporters of the oppostion were arrested and charged. I am also concern about the reported cosumption of alchohol around the polling area; this is clearly a dangerous practice and those responsible for the village councils should ensure that this is not repeated in future electons.
i think that these are childish games between them and Mr Musa should dye his hair. Mr barrow should buy a wig. two of them are jack asses and we are the stubborn drivers. i am a UDP candidate and it is a shame to know that mr musa lose after so many years of running and a shame his hair is still white after all the discrimination brought before him. i think that all belizeans should come together to buy a dye and a wig even though we are in recession. it hurts us to know that potato price and ramen price gone up. Chiney will soon start going back to china then we will starve to death.back to barrow and musa: i think that with barrow and musa our country and themselves are in depression. like i said barrow should stop borrow money from other countries and d put we ena crisis. musa should just go work and sell more tamales and pay back the people of belize.
if you are the darius martinez, the police officer you should be the last to talk, cause you know you have not investisgated certain criminal activity before cause it was convinient to you, now you come di talk like if you dah wah good person, bway you shet your mouth and keep sucking your fingers, you know what I di talk about, you know damn well who you are connected too!
This is exactly Mr. Barrow’s problem. He approaches everything like a “stubborn driver.” I think he takes all the people of Belize for his “jackass.” His arrogance knows no bounds, and because he has been so unwilling to listen to the people, THIS is why the country is in the state it is. No one is going to argue that PUP did not thief money, but let me tell you, my pocket was far heavier during the PUP term. And another thing… during the PUP term I was frustrated, but never have I felt intimidated by my government. This is the case now, not only because of the thuggish behavior of several ministers, but also because the crime situation has gotten so much worse in so little time! Not only have they shown that they are incompetent, but that they just DO NOT SEEM TO CARE. Criminals are connected to police, and police are connected to ministers (I know this for a fact about several members of government)… Thus, the cycle of crime has spiraled out of control, and only us Belizeans, be it black, white, mestizo, garifuna, taiwanese, indian, or mennonite, pay for it. To Mr. Barrow: You may try to be a “stubborn driver,” but if you are too aggressive, you’re looking to get a big kick from you’re jackass, one from which you will not easily recover.
I 4 one have no remorece for musa..he is as incompitent as dean barro!! these have lost( if they had any) the sight and feeling of wat poverty is! wen was the last time either of them took a ride to some where on the but, or or sat in an area congetted with poor people? to not only hear ttheir crys, to also to see their pain, and experience their on going struggle!! ITS A SAD SIN!! what we do to our selves as a people-4 thing that will faid away as we faid away!! START TO THINK!!!
Well said, Charloote. Stop the natives from getting restless. The politicians all set bad examples.
Two words for this kind of behavour in the so-call honourable house: LACT OF CLASS AND DISGRACEFUL
Both of them are jackass! but u know who is the stuborn one it is Barrow i wont even say MR. caz my respect for him is down the drain. he is nothing he is just hiding behind politics but once he and his bald head is out he will need his people again but you know what barrow you wont fool know one again. instead you are helping us belizean you are thinking of your self jackass. we the poor people you never helped, none of you ministers who sit on ur sour a.. at the house never gave back to the people the way you all promised. all u are good at is showing disrespect. barrow enjoy your last days as a so called prime minister remember we the people are watching, listening and suffering because of this high cost of living you have us in. And because of you ministers Belize is corrupt caz u corrupt our country. we need you out of the seat and make others who has more experience and who cares about everyone in. so retire barrow caz we the Belizean people are feed up with your stubborn Jackass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Barrow is using the wrong words and also missing the point! Musa is not stubborn and he is not a jackass…Musa is a con man….not a jackass and he is not stubborn…he is committed.
He stole Belize and he is staying close to his investment……….therefore words do not offend. WAKE UP PEOPLE…..DO WE FORGET SO EASILY AND OPEN UP OURSELVES FOR THE CONTINUED CON!
CHARLES PAYNE
Politicains don’t give a damn about anybody. They all have an agenda and their AGENDA is making money. Making money legal or illegal. They have the freedom to do it because thay are in an honourable house. They use to offices to actually conceal their true identity, just as how some so called Christians do, they conceal themselves behind the Holy Bible. One doesn’t care how much debt they put the country in and shy some people as if they are so concerned about what is happening and act as if they want to butter some poor people paw but actually that is what they do in order to conceal the bigger amount that they (the politicians) grab. The other plays as if they want to mend the gansters results, but they are also the same, only because they are more open in doing it. They don’t butter no one paw, they only butter theirs and their immediate family and very close friends. MUSA and RALPH ARE 2 BIG THIEVES AND I PRAY TO GOD TO SEE THEM CONFESS TO THE BELIZEAN PEOPLE AND TRULY REPENT OF THEIR INJUSTICES AND FEEL GUILT WHEN THEY WATCH AT THE EARTHLY POSSESSIONS THEY ACQUIRED THROUGH POOR PEOPLE SWEAT> BLOOD MONEY, MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON THEM ON JUDGEMENT DAY> Barrow you need to stop being arrogant cause it only shows that there is probably not too much left for grabs and it angers you. Have mercy also. We respect our leaders but when they fail us we also are led to the point of arrogance, hate and anger. Please reason!!!!!!!!! Words won,t help, don’t teach the children that kind of behaviour. They are of another level where they don’t only quarrel but anger leads them to do foolish things in life and they make fatal mistakes. Pray to GOD for wisdom and put yourself in the poor man shoes, but not in a greedy poor man shoes but a humble honest poor man. Jah Bless. Mr Briceno you stand watch and learn from these leaders mistakes. Don’t lean on the mentality of “If them get Me also weh get” Foolishness. Move Musa from beside you and you are going to get lots of support, because we believe that with MUSA at your side you might fall into his web filled with dirty tricks.
I say all the way with a third party 2013, no more UDP nor PUP they are same Circus with differnt clowns no better no worse. Get rid of them all bunch of THIEVES
barrow da lone ………….., he di tax fi we behind everyday more and more wake belize!!!!!
How do they expect our country to succeed when they as our leader is the ones doing bs!!
what kind o leaders do they think they Are!! I cant beleive after so long fighting to get into position for PM. Barrown comes alone and do lone MR! he is the same leader that is promoting violence in this country the same so called leader that says he want change for our belizean citizen, want the crime to stop, how can when he alone bring it to the house in public its a total Shame!! Nobody is perfect. Our country need a Vast change of leaders from Pm go straight down. New people to govern Our country. That is the same reason why our country cant move forward because our leaders are falling big time. They are all in it for themselves!! What they can acheive and get before they are taken out. And before u know it they are knocking at your door again. Wanting a next vote to finish of f their task. All of them are the same. That is the same reason i dont vote caz most of dem politicians are scoundrels. barrow is d one thatneed a bell around his d…. neck for when he come knoking at your door!! i would like to meet him face to face to tell him about himself!!!
SHAME ON YOU DEAN BARROW NO WONDER THE COUNTRY IS GOING TO HELL IN A HAND BASKET!!! YOU SURE AS HELL DO NOT DESERVE THE TITLE PRIME MINSTER SOMETIMES!!! YOU HAVE NOT READ ANY BOOK ABOUT AFGHAN!!!!! YOU ARE JUST FULL OF YOUR SELF!!!!! YOU SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON THE CRIME RATE IN OUR JEWEL ITS SCARY!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING ??? IT FRIGHTENS ME TO READ THE NEWS BECAUSE IT SCARES ME TO READ ABOUT MY RELATIVES OR FRIENDS BEING MURDERED OR ROBBED..
STOP ACTING ‘GHETTO’ AND GET WITH DOING THE JOB WE ELECTED YOU TO DO!!!!
S A D!!
IT IS SO SAD TO HEAR THAT SO CALLED LEADERS ARE ACTING THIS WAY INFRONT OUR COUNTY AND THE REST OF THE WORLD. BARROW I COULD SEE THAT YOU HAVE NO CLASS AND ALL YOU DO IS PROMOTE VIOLENCE AND OTHER SOCIAL ISSUES AFFECTING OUR POOR BELIZEAN CITIZENS… POLITICS IS SO DAMN NASTY IN OUR COUNTRY AND ITS TIME FOR US TO MAKE A CHANGE AND STOP TALKING ABOUT THESE DIRTY SCUMBAGS… I AM NOT LIVING IN BELIZE RIGHT NOW BUT I AM SURE THAT COME 2013 PROFESSIONAL CAPABLE BELIZEANS CAN RUN OUR JEWEL NOT THESE THIEVES LIKE BARROW AND MUSA. SO BELIZEANS LIKE MYSELF GET MOTIVATED AND BE THE CHAGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN OUR COUNTRY.
He forgot that he was elected to lead this country! It is so unprofessional to hear on television such an educated man as the P.M. to express himself in that manner. And this does not only go for the Prime Minister, it also goes to all the other ministers in government. How can you all represent your constituencies by displaying such inappropriate and unprofessional behaviour. It upsets me when I hear these types of behaviours being displayed at the National Assembly. It seems that there is no respect for Parliamentary Democracy. Stop pointing fingers and judging. All the members in the national assembly should be engaged in constructive debate in amending and improving the laws of this country or in addressing critical issues such as crime, as well as in straightening the Police System in this country. In reference to the Police, Officers should be evaluated on a yearly basis and be given rewards based on their performance. A recommendation is salary increase and life insurance benefits. After all they are the ones who place their life on the front line to combat crime. It would be good to continue to recognize outstanding officers on a monthly basis as was being done before; and given small prizes other than just a certificate or plaque. Perhaps in doing so, will they become motivate and better themselves and take pride in who they are ,and do the job that they have been called to do. After all change will take place again in 2013, and with it all departments will again undergo change. Belizeans will vote once again, and I am hoping that all registered voters come out and make a positive contribution to their country.
Given the reality of cause and effect, did anyone ask Dean Barrow why he made such a derogatory to Said Musa? As it seem to this viewer that there is some strong under currents between these two politicians.
2 Jack’s in one bag……Let England Rule again Belizeans don’t know how to run dem own country…..
