Latest shooting victim hit with five bullets

A man lies critically wounded after he was shot on Monday night in Belize City. The incident occurred around nine o’clock near the complex building in Lake I. Police Press Officer, Sgt Fitzroy Yearwood says that the weapon has been recovered. In the meantime the shooting victim is fighting to stay alive at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and police have no leads in the City’s latest shooting.

“Police received information about a shooting incident at the corner of Police Street and Sunflower Street. The victim has been identified as Lionel Copious, twenty-four years. He was apparently walking up police street when upon reaching its junction with Sunflower Street, a lone gunman, walking, dark complexion just opened fire at him hitting him five times. He is in the K.H.M.H. in a critical condition. Police recovered three point nine mm slugs from the scene and nine point nine mm casing so we know that the weapons of choice there was a nine millimeter. So far we cannot say if the identity of any suspect has been obtained because he has been in a critical condition since this incident occurred.”
The motive for the shooting is also not clear and police are asking the public to call them and assist in solving this crime.
