Barge removed from reef near Blue Reef Resort

boat1On Thursday last week News Five reported that a barge ran aground eight miles north of San Pedro Town.  The extent of the damage is still being determined, but News Five has learned that the barge which was stuck near Blue Reef Resort was removed in three sections on Monday. No one has claimed ownership of the thirty by twenty three feet vessel which is believed to have broken loose from a tug in the Caribbean Sea and relevant authorities are still conducting an investigation into the matter.  Since its removal the matter is now in the hands of the Department of the Environment which will conduct a thorough assessment of any damages.

I hope they charge the owner of the barge a big fine. This is the only way they will understand that they have to be careful and not destroy Belize’s natural beauty.

True dat, but more importantly let’s get these U.S trained Belizean Coast Guard to work on properly securing the high seas. I would really like to know why the U.S Gov’t. with my taxes, paid for these youngmen to be trained using the latest technology. And then we U.S Gov’t gave Belize some equiptments to include radar enchance boats to patrol Belizean waters. Where the heck, were the patrols not to have known that this barg was adrift long before it hit the Reef.

Wake up Belize n Be Responsible/Professional n most important Protect This Jewel It’s Under Seige!!!!!
