Common-law-wife burnt to death; husband freed of charge
A murder suspect was freed in the Supreme Court today when the judge upheld a no case submission made by his attorney. On Easter Monday of March twenty-third, 2008, thirty-two year old Alvin Guzman was accused of setting on fire, his twenty-three year old common-law-wife, Avette Augustine. It was alleged that he doused her with kerosene and Guzman set her on fire with a cigarette lighter. Augustine died before the trial came to an end. During the trial, there was no evidence that placed Guzman at the scene. The decision to set Guzman free came after Justice Adolph Lucas ruled against the prosecutor, Elizabeth Purcell, the representative from the DPP’s office who had tried to get a “dying declaration” from the deceased entered into evidence. But Attorney Simeon Sampson argued that the words by the deceased to her mother before she died, could not be view or accepted into evidence as part of a “dying declaration. Judge Lucas agreed with Samson and upheld the no case submission.
By now it should be obvious to the Belizean people that the current Senior Police Officers are incompitent , lazy and indifferent. I know because I had to solve a problem on my own that involved the police, as they failed to even do the basic questioning and invesatigation that could have solved the CASE. If I did not do my own investigation and bring them a witness, which happened to be a police officer who witnessed the crime, they would have arrested and charged me with the crime.
Fire the top five officers and bring in fresh new blood; these people are all disillusioned jaded and ready for pasture; just waiting to collect their retirement.
New people could not do any worse; at lease they will bring new energy to the force.

i guess she caught her self on fire right, don’t believe that for a minute. obviously the police didn’t do a good investigation.
