Convicted U.S. Child Molester gets sentenced
Robert Snyder, the convicted child molester who was caught in Belize, was sentenced today in Fort Collins Colorado. Snyder was on probation for abusing young boys when he fled to Belize. Before hiding out in Belize, Snyder spent two years in jail for pedophilia case, but instead of registering as a sex offender, upon his release in August 2008, he started a new life in Belize as Augustine Rios. While in Belize he embedded himself at several primary schools as a chess instructor. He was spotted during an American Most Wanted program by Cree Young, a primary school student at Hummingbird Elementary. Young, her mother, and the school assisted in bringing the fugitive to justice. The capture was celebrated by America’s Most Wanted which filmed an episode about the capture in Belize. Earlier today in Colorado, Snyder was sentenced to twelve years to life in prison.
Convicted sex offender Robert Snyder was given the maximum sentence of 12 years behind bars on March 30, 2010, in a Colorado court.
