Nancy Gomez fails to show up for drug trafficking case

Nancy Gomez

Frederick Gomez
The case of four affluent north side residents who were busted on January third with over fourteen pounds of marijuana went back to court today. On that Sunday, police conducted a raid at a house on Newtown Barracks where they found Nancy Gomez and Matthew Stock, both twenty-one years old, along with Adrian Balderamos and Frederick Kerr-Gomez, both nineteen years old. Inside the building the officers found a kit bag containing six thousand five hundred and sixty-three grams of cannabis and two pipes for smoking marijuana. They claimed the large quantity of herbs was for personal use but they were jointly charged with trafficking. This morning, the Director of Public Prosecution Cheryl Lynn-Branker-Taitt Vidal sent a letter to the court ordering the charge against Nancy Gomez to be withdrawn but no reason was given. The court did not take it lightly that Gomez, who is studying in the United States, did not show up to at today’s adjournment. In light of that, Magistrate Sharon Frazer told Gomez’s attorney, Dickie Bradley, that she will not just withdraw the charges in Gomez’s absence stating that she must be present as the other three accused are also required to do. Magistrate Frazer ordered that Gomez be present at the next court adjournment set for June third, the day the case is set for trial against the other defendants. If Gomez does not appear on that date, her bail will be revoked.

Can the media please interview DPP to provide a very valid explanation??? are they relatives, friends, or what???
The court and the office of DPP should have the same power because it looks that the DPP wants to have only authority but no responsibility for decisions…..
omg. i knew these kids. wow. i am stunned.
Oh Yah…give the little rich girl a second chance to show up in court…i thought that when u don’t show up, your bail gets revoked immediately.
Nancy…Milk it does a body good….stay off the drugs
Silly rich kids…her bail shoud have been revoked….
mek da me somebody else…our stupid legal syste….RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
shame on DPP and kudos to the Magistrate for standing up against DPP….Magistrate, you shoulda revoke Gomez bail immediately. U failed there. I agree with u Gongora….
what a shame on these young people, HMMM hope they get what they deserve!
how do you know she was involved in any of it…… please n how do you know she is rich grow up people…. she isnt even in the country but really if it was any of you how would you feel paying for a crime you have nothin to do with
MONEY TALKS BS WALKS…….WE CAN SEE THAT OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM HAS FAILED OUR COUNTRY,ITS A PITY THO…SATRTING FROM THE DPP,POLICE OFFICERS,JUDGES.LAWERS,…U NAME IT!”.
Will say it again. Legalize it and stop waste court and police time.
she looks awesome but she is drug trafficking, damn!! never judge a book by it’s cover.
It’s a pity that a young, beautiful (though not so intelligent) girl could involve herself with such drug dealing losers and thus jeopardize her studies and her whole future for that matter!
Damm , people already jump to conclusion before the trial. What about innocent untill proven guilty. I guess in Belize that is not the way it work. You are guilty because the Police say you are guilty. Why have a trial.
The rich have one law and the rest of us peasants have another. None of these little rich kids will get punished, and certainly none will do time in jail, but arrest a low paid guy with a couple of grams in his pocket and off to Hattieville you go – Do not pass Go, do not collect $200.00!
So much for Dean Barrows crusade against Corruption!
Totally AGREE with Tyadia! legalize it and charge a low (1-3%) tax to export and import! This will definately help the present Belizean economy! As you can see EVERYONE wants to get HIGH!
Look people, Nancy is not rich!!!! Or as rich as you think. She did well at St. Johns College Jr College and got awarded a Jesuit scholarship for her outstanding efforts in school. I don’t know what the heck happened with this whole drug thing, but I believe due to the nature of the offense, her criminal history and her current endevors, the court should extend her bail until she is finished studying or let her do community service such as teaching when she gets back home(community service AKA free labor)
Mein unu fool and quick fi judge! Get u facts straight! I neva heard of a rich kid rolling cylinders! Or a rich kid delivery boy for the bank!! No because u white, u rich u know!
Please note as well that di girl is on a , is not rich, alike the boys, and cian di run up an down from foreign like ih cheap!
And the fool top de weh di ask if they related to the DPP, did u know that the DPP is not a Belizean, who di hell she wa related to?! The DPP is a very smart woman; let her do her job!
Lastly, they are all young! De mek a mistake! As for the girl she was in the wrong place at the wrong time! Stop making assumptions, shut up if you no know nothing!
Put that ina yu tough head, fools! Gongora ah shame on u!
Obviously if you all do not know anything about Nancy Gomez , you should butt out of her business….i pray all yall get arrested for an offense that you did not commit. If you all knew her, you’d know she is not rich, GO FIGURE, and she is working very hard in school in hopes of going to med-school to come back and help these “fellow” belizeans, who have probably committed felonies beyond recognition. She is doing more than you lazy butts doing. Probably half of you on this computer commenting are not even going to or have gone to college, and yes she should get a second chance since she was convicted of a felony she did not commit…dur logical…bt i forgot half of you are probably illiterate so…. bt i digress….if it aint your business, butt out….in the words of our great Belizeans, “Keep your fish out of her sere”…. you should be proud that she is doing something to try to help the country, instead of trying to bring her down…but its typical of the Belizean Haters aint it….To the haters:”GET A LIFE”!!!
Then we wonder why the crime rate in Belize keep rising. The DPP is a JOKE.
Who cares about how she looks. She comitted a crime.
By the way Martha Stewart is a beautiful Lady Tinman.
You all, don’t kid yourself about human justice; there is no such thing. So call justice the world over is how much one can afford, in contacs and money.
Ha Ha! Smoke another one…
This girl is beautiful on the outside- why is she smokin/sellin weed it will only make her lips purple and her eyes droopy!
the girl was at the house, so go to court and plead your case, Mr. Young was not at the house that the police raid but still he got problems dealing with his situation……. rich, poor, out of country or not, no one is above the law………
Jasmin Gomez:What’s your relationship to this thug your opinion is lame. This young lady was with these guys.So what is your point. She is an accomplice come on now.
Jasmin Gomez:You sound just like the DPP.
BELIZEAN PRIDE:I agree with you a hundered 100%.
Yo fool, “Elgin”, with a name like that I wouldn’t be adding anything to this conversation. The fool fool name people give de pickni now a days! ………, I no know you and i done see it. Do you know this girl? She is innocent! What you got against her besides the fact that she white?
Nancy, don’t let these discriminating, small minded, dutty-pessimist get to you, girl! My poor lee gial the try work her way through college to come back here and do good. Don’t judge her without knowing her, don’t ruin her name for something that she had nothing to do with!!
I am disgusted with most of the comments above! This is why our country is the way it is! Lack of education and big mouths no mix proper! Don’t talk unless you know!
it’s called a strict liability offense…whether she’s a part of it or had prior knowledge about the drugs or not…she’ll be charged and prosecuted just like the others….strict liability cases need no proof of knowledge…once u’re in the circumstance u’re screwed….personally I don’t feel the charges should be revoked, I have no idea who Ms. Gomez is nor do I care to know…however what I do know is that if any other Belizean was found to be in the same situation, they would have no opportunity to leave the country and continue their studies, they will be forced to wait and appear before the court and often times bail revoked. The situation is unfortunate, however, no special deals…no special consideration, and definitely no special treatment should be given, everyone should be treated the same and on the same playing field, what kind of justice system do we have huh?
Yo anonymous! What makes Ms. Gomez so special? Is her name Musa? Fonseca? Feinstein? No! Her parents are struggling to help her through school, just like the rest of us! This girl’s skin color has nothing to do with it. Only small minded, non-educated people would think that!
I honestly, think her case should be dismissed, not the boys, hers. She clearly had nothing to do with it and is in school.
tell the police stop pressure the people who arent doing major crimes in belize like robbery and murders, instead of pressuring young ppl like these who are trying to make ends meet for themselves and their families you should go pressure the people who are really doing the major crimes like Musa, Barrow and dat whole scurvy set. set them free and stop play
Free those men they are innocent! Nancy sexc!
