Special presentation on the race to the garland

The coveted 2010 Cross Country Classic garland was taken by Miguel Perez from Guatemala. He is the eighty-second winner of the biggest sporting event in the jewel. The first Belizean who crossed the finish line on Holy Saturday was Marlon Castillo.  There were ups and downs from start to finish, excitement and dreams of glory filled the Saturday morning air until many hopes were dashed aside at the end of the one hundred and thirty-nine mile race for the garland. News Five covered the event with a strategically placed ground crew when the riders sprinted at the start on the Western Highway and when it concluded at the Memorial Park. Our camera lens captured aerial images throughout the race via Chopper Five while each push of the leg and breakaways were recorded from the back of high-speed motorcycles. Beginning at eight tonight, and only on this station, our in-house veteran sports caster, James Adderley, will have a full report on the race to the garland.
