Gunmen leave vehicle behind after shooting on Fabers Road

In this week alone there have been four murders, two perpetrators were killed in robbery attempts and at least four persons were injured in shootings; the most recent happened when most people were having lunch. Three men armed with deadly M-sixteen assault rifles, drove up to the home of forty-three year old Cecil Lewis and all three opened fire on him and a friend while they sat on the verandah. Both men fled inside the house, but Lewis was lucky enough and three bullets landed on his feet and did not cause life threatening injuries. At least sixteen expended shells were found at the scene. He was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where we met his mother, Marie, this afternoon. Marie says she was doing laundry when she got the call that her son had been shot.

“No, he only si bout three person and ih seh dehn fired shots but he run inside and apparently ih look like ih get ih foot twist. Di doctor noh know nothing yet but I have to go back into the x-ray room and si bout ih foot. But there’s a bullet lodged between the knee and the leg. He is in good condition right now and doctor give him injection and medication. So pretty good, he’s alright.”

“Do you know when he’ll be released.”

“Well, right now I’m going back and I will ask the doctor when he’s going to be released because they said it would be four hours they would watch him but right they have him in the ICU section so apparently they just want to see what’s going to happen with the bullet, if it’s going to draw or anything because bullet move you know.”

“Baby, I don’t know. There is nothing that I could si dehn would attack my son because my son don’t interfere with nobody and when they do dehn do things fi dehn own self. My son have Mr. Jeffries number dat ih could call Mr. Jeffries. And Mr. Jeffries, if ih neva know my son as wah good person, he wouldn’t ah mi give my son ih number fi call because ih tell ah when thing di happen ih wah call and tell ah.”
we have to go out and hunt these animals in old belize. MY FELLOW BELIZEANS…….TO SAVE OUR COUNTRY WE HAVE TO RECLAIM IT BACK FROM THE INFESTATION OF CRIMINALS. WHAT DO YOU DO WITH COCKROACHES? OR SIT BACK AND LET THE COUNTRY TURN INTO HAITI.
We the law abiding citizens will have to pressure the government to meet this violence head on by hanging a fews of these brazen killers to see if this will slow down this ever increasing senseless killing. Its gotten to where it seem as if though certain individuals seem to think that there is no other way to settle disbute other that killing someone. If this is a democracy, government for th people by the people, then there should be a serious polling to test the moode of the citizens about whether capital punishment should be reintroduced, at least for a while to see if we can get this killing spree under control.
When the British rule this country and capital punishment was the rule of the day, I heard many individuals commented that if was not for the fact that they did not want to get hang behind Baptist they would have taken out whomever the person theyhad a dispute with. I pointed out in previous response, that when there is no love, fear, nor respect, then its worst than been in the gungles. These emotions are not automatic in human nature, they have to be learn, or taught, and right now the society seem to be coming up short on all three. Its either every citizen be allowed to own a fire arm or drop a few of these killers to send a real message that enough is enough of the gun violence.
It must be something in the air, this has very little to do with genetics.
Anyway, the mother is claiming the son is innocent, and a forty-three year old man seem not to fit into the statistics of the age group being killed with guns lately in Belize.
Is he innocent of all crimes, or guilty of crimes even his mother is unaware of, time will tell.
at this point we should call the attention of the minister to bring the b.d.f on the streets to mantain law and order. they are getting fat where they are and we need them. enfore the police since they are not adequate for this situation that we are going through
I agree HANG THEM or get a fireing squad from BDF that is the only way to get some sort of controle back. It has become the norm to hear someone get shot. The problem is either the politicians don’t have enough balls to deal with the problem or most of them been attorneys make their money from crime. (Flushing the same people in and out of prison) We should ask the prime minister and some of his family members to walk the streets at least once a week. Lets see how that will play out.
BELIZEAN PRIDE:It doesn’t matter if we bring the BDF to the streets.As long as Mr Barrow continue to have meetings with these criminals they are going to get the impression that they are in control.
Belize is so infested with criminals.Our Jewel needs some serious extermination work.
Why are innocent non violent people are the only ones getting shot. Every time someone gets shot their family get on TV and radio and say, ” I don’t know why they would shoot my family member because he is a cool guy he don’t bother anyone he don’t have any enemies”. Obviously something is wrong with this picture. I know from time to time someone is in the wrong place at the wrong time but it can’t be all the shootings are wrong place at wrong time.
Parents need to start taking some responsibility for their children’s behavior and stop condoning their bad behavior when they are small. Bad children grow to be bad adults!!!!!!
Crime in Belize is increasing fast. What’s the sence in going to police for help if they are guilty in some of these stuff. The time of the incident that occur on the Faber’s I look on the police station and there was only 1 police over there usually there is more dan 2 police there. Thats not only it the police that was there was left un arm. how in this world can the 1 that is there to protect us dont even have a gun. When the other 2 police man came that was to be there they came point up the street and laugh it look like they had somthing to do with it. The next thing people that was passing saw the some of the person that did the shooting and the police still did’nt do nothing to them not even take them in for questioning, but the nite they when to the shooting victim yard and look and see if anyone was hanging out, they where on crime privention what kind of thing that. The other thing they took the man to the hospital and one of the medical personel was talking to a female instend of helping the man. The man wait 30 min before he was attend to, that because another person had to go and rail up with the person. WHAT IS OUR BELIZEAN PEOPLE DOING!!!!! WE ARE KILLING OUT OUR SELF!!!!! listen to the news every week you will hear about alot of killing not the Guatemalan is talking over our land doing alot of thing come we need to stop thiS MADNESS.
I served in the Belize Police Force in the seventies and in the US ARMY for 30 years and have been to several wars in IRAQ and Afganistan and Belize seems to be getting like those countries. It’s time for the government to wake up and put
KERFEW in place with the BDF in patrol and control. Only certain people can be on the streets after a certain of the night that have a need to be there. Keep this going for a few months until the government get control of the criminals before it gets any worst.

Ever thought of going communist? Just for a little while until we can get this crime situation under control. Or what if someone in the military would stage a military coup? Just until we can get crime under control?
These are too extreme, but I cant think of anything else that would work.
