Minister Perdomo talks about rogue cops

Perdomo was quizzed by William Neal on Open Your Eyes this morning on the now famous Holy Thursday press conference about rogue cops.  The situation was so grave that Easter weekend, that even the Prime Minister Dean Barrow attended the conference.  Crispin Jeffries, the Commissioner of Police, vehemently protested the presence of rogue cops in the department and both Jeffries and Barrow were adamant that the ring would be busted and the guilty officers would be removed from the force. But instead one cop, Jermaine Mangar, was charged with a crime and a few more were placed on interdiction without any reason given. So what happened to the roving ring of rogue lawmen?

Carlos Perdomo, Minister of National Security

“We have to see how that develops because there have been reports of policemen collaborating with people who would do robberies. This was one case that we were able to at least have somebody show great interest in coming to collect some money. That will have to go to court and hopefully we can win that case. But there have been stories like that where cops leave information or are involved with where the patrol is going to be and so forth. We have not really discovered how deep it is or how well organized it is and so forth.”

William Neal

“Some people felt like when the Prime Minister came out at the press conference and spoke about the rogue cops that you’d see some major arrests being made and the feeling on the streets just they just offered a little sacrificial kind of lamb just to quell people for a while. What’s your response to that?”

Carlos Perdomo

“I don’t know if it’s a sacrificial lamb but at that time I was out of the country attending my son’s wedding and I got some of the information after the fact but I don’t think it’s as deep as we initially thought.”

Detective Jermaine Mangar’s attorney was of the opinion the case would fall apart.  According to Richard ‘Dickie’ Bradley, Mangar knew the person he went to collect money from and it was the proceeds of furniture sales he went to collect on the night of the police sting.

No further arrests were made huh go figure…..Maybe the Police Department was the wrong department to investigate itself on corruption charges…..

LETS TRY THAT WITH ALL CRIMINALS LET THEM CONDUCT THE INVESTIGATION THEMSELVES INTO THE CRIME THEY ARE ACCUSED OF AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS….
