Fifteen year old alleges assault after jumping through man’s window

Cruz Encalada

Cruz Encalada

A fifteen year old student claims she was sexually assaulted over the weekend by a man who offered to lend her a bicycle in the Ladyville area. The student and her father proceeded to the police station and reported the matter to the cops at about three o’clock Saturday morning. According to the girl, she was in the Japan area at about two o’clock in the morning when a man she identified as Cruz Encalada offered his bicycle to her. The young girl reported that “Cruzie” told her that to get the bike she needed to jump through the back window of his home and open the door for him.  She agreed but then Cruzie allegedly prevented her from leaving and dragged her into his bedroom and forced her. Police went to the scene but Cruzie was not at home and was located much later. This morning he appeared unrepresented before the Chief Magistrate, Margaret Gabb McKenzie, and pleaded not guilty to unlawful carnal knowledge.  Due to the nature of the offence, bail was denied and he was remanded to the Hattieville Prison. After his arraignment, relatives retained attorney Dickie Bradley to apply for bail to the Supreme Court on his behalf.

What has happened to family values in Belize. Where was the parent of this fifteen year old girl. This is shameful, a young girl out on the street at two am. It is time for the parents to be held accountable for what is happening to their children.

I am not saying cruzie is innocent, but what the damn hell a young girl is doing out at that time of the night, and she willinly went inside his home!1 Come on parent, SMOKEY JOE WAS RIGHT, ITS ELEVEN OCLOCK IN THE NIGHT DO YOU KNOW WHERE ARE YOUR CHILDREN!!!!

  6. Elgin says:

There was no need for this young lady to enter this guy’s home to return his bicycle. This smell fishy.

I find it unfair to blame parents each time a child gets into trouble or molested by some creep. Many times these children are from single parents home and the mother is the only bread winner. After a hard days works all you can think about is rest for the night in order to get up early for work the following day. These young children need to be held responsible for their behaviour. There is no way a child of that age should be out in the streets, what we need is curfew for children between the age of 5 to 18 years old. If found on the streets without an adult they should be taken to a shelter until their parents can pick them up. The parent will be responsible for the food etc given to them. If the child gets three strikes they should be placed in a boot camp as that shows that they are deliquents and the parent (s) might not be able to control them. The same way the government pays Kolbe to keep prisoners a subvention should be given for housing and food while they are there. I agree we as parents are responsible for our children but as a single mother I know how difficult it is to care for children that you believe should be asleep when you are. And don’t think that I have any dilenquent children I don’t. I dealt with them like they were living in a booth camp, they would never think about leaving my house when I fell asleep. There are so many laws that could be used in order to bring our country under control be I guess we turn a blind eye. As for “Cruzie” his a… should be put in jail and the keys thrown away. He should never be allowed to see the light of day again. He is a sick piece of S@#t.

Have you noticed how many children and teens under 18 wonder the streets every single night with no parental supervision. Whenever a town or village wants to implement a curfew the community objects and it just never happens. Children now a days have way too much liberty, some of them do work until late at night but that only means that the children get to do what they want and it is the streets that are educating them not the parent cause they arrive home tired. What was that 15 year old doing on the street at 2am? Unless is a medical emergency she had no business being on the street at that time. And she had the nonsense of going into a stranger’s home? Poor judgement on her part which reflects poor on her parents. Now that man cruz is no “angel” to but children now a days think they know everything and that is why they fall prey to sick persons like cruz….

I have 2 daughters, and there is no way they will be out on their own or otherwise at 2am in the morning until they are at least 18, and even then I’ll be worried sick and be phoning them, ready to pick them up!

Hate to say this, but maybe she was out on purpose, expected to be earning some cash for the parents? Maybe the suspect didn’t have any money on him, so the deal was off and out of anger, she reported it to the Police the way that she did?

Maybe the Police and Human Services should be following that avenue of investigation?

No smoke without fire, and this smoke stinks of fish – in other words, there’s something fishy going on here…..

Janet:Havn’t you noticed that the minors in Belize are the ones who are involved in Crimes.

  11. Manford says:

Lots of good previous comments to this situation. Lact of decipline, bottom line. But what can parent do when children rights are forced down the troat of parents. Just like it had to be a big political debate as to how teachers should deal with unruley kids in school. This one of the main cause for such delinquencies in our society. How about the teachers back in the days when were under British rule? They were judge, jury and police in their class rooms. No teacher’s strike. They got by far lest pay than teachers of today, but they turn out very good students. We were student of quality, full of respect and law abiding.

I would agree that some parent does go a little too far in decipline, but each parent should be dealt with individually when the line of dicipline and brutality is crossed, but why should all parents hands be tied when it come to chastizing their kids that they bring into the world and has to sacrifice to maintain them. We all have certain rights, but not license to do as we please and to hell with anyone else. We are surely reaping what we sowe. We emulate all this nonsense from America, and look at the level of delinquency in the good old USA. I know as I work at one time for the Juvenile system. The cops can brutalize kids when they are in their custody, but parent can’t look too hard at their kids lest they be jacked for child abuse.

Bring on the argument about whoés better than before we took custody of this country. Yes we have our big ride and house, and many can go to the USA to shop and vacation, but we are crying for safety. What does it profit a man/woman to gain the whole world and suffer the lost of his/soul? We have sold our birth right and become nothing but harlots. I repeat: God is not mock, for whatsover persom soweth that shall they reap in time. Be boastful about this jewel, but it is a jaded jewel lacting brilliance.

Well that serves her right what happened to her, what was she doing out so late at only 15 years old? where were her parents? She was looking for mischief and she found it… no one to blame but herself and her parents. You all are always up in arms about these young girls being molested and abused which truely some of them are really being taken advantage of indeed and that is bad. But we also have to realize that not just because they are young means there are all innocent and not to blame as well. They know exactly what they are doing, what they want and how to get it…..so stop pulling out the innocent card everytime something likle this happens. These young girls should also be held accountable for whatever situation they get themselves into. If they believe and act as if though they are grown women then they should be able to handle and take on the responsibilies of being an adult woman. A lot of young girls in Belize are out here looking for trouble and when it finds them then it becomes big news. Thats not to say the some men are not at fault as well for being tempted by these young girls because truely they are. But it takes a real man to resist the advances of such a young individual…some men are weak to this and find themselves behind bars for a very long time. The law has so many loopholes though…whats to stop any young girl from falsely accusing a man of assault and having him end up in jail innocently just because she told a lie on him? Men are being convicted by just testimonial evidence given by the supposed victim, what about physical evidence? what about eye witnesses? What about DNA evidence? This just goes to show someone can tell a lie on you just to bring you down and tarnish your reputation and get you into a whole heap of trouble easy as that. But what can a man do in a situation like this? just saying your innocent won’t cut it and you are likey to be looked at as being guilty until proven innocent from the begining of court case…..instead of being innocent until proven guilty. like it usually is, the male person will be held responsible and found guilty…..not really a fair fight in the courts.

  13. BZNinCALI says:

This girl may be neglected & misguided, Just because she lacks the support & discipline we expect parents to give their children, does not make her fair game for any man, young or old. The threat of death or being raped by another man while he is in jail should not be the only reason to keep his hands off minors but damn good reasons to pass on an easy peace.
