Accused gunman befriends his victim; case closed

Back in 2008, Osman Mitchell was shot as he was on his way visit his child. The trial into the shooting was finally set to begin today in the Supreme Court, but there was an unexpected twist when Mitchell informed the court that he wanted to withdraw charges of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and grievous harm against his alleged shooter, Wilworth Williams. The reason? Mitchell, who took the stand before Justice Herbert Lord, said that Williams is now his friend and that he was not pressured, threatened or forced to withdraw charges. Crown Council, Christelle Wilson, who represented the DPP’s office, threw in the towel and charges were dismissed. The shooting incident occurred in August of 2008 on Sibun Street. Mitchell told police back then that he was heading to visit his child when he saw a man ran out of yard. The man pulled out a gun and fired several shots at him. Police later detained Williams after Mitchell identified him as the shooter.
Such a waste of time, space and effort.
Now they are forming an unstoppable unit of criminals, god save Belize from these crime gods.
I hope he doesn’t go crying to the cops when this scumbag tries to kill him again.
What a mistake, there is a saying, keep your friends close and your enemy closer. This is what happened here. I pray that in two months that there will not be a news report about one of the now best friend killing the other. This whole country lack critical thinkers, so sad.

OK, was the gun legal? Why isn’t that an issue? I am sure the gun was not a legal gun. No matter what, charges should be there for that. What is wrong with the DPP’s Office? Common Sense People.
Our laws are so out dated that dropping one charge means dropping all apparently….no attempted murder charges so no gun charges….

Maybe we should higher one of this criminals to run the DPP because apparently the can think more logically than the DPP.
Our laws got to be ammended to deal with the present situation facing our Jewel.Sling shot law is not applicable to someone using an AK-47.Lets get some ammendments and hopefuly we can get some of these fools hang.

more than a waste in the first place why have a DPP if most of the crimials walks free why pay this person for doing nothing we are already paying an incompetent police force for doing nothing
