Robbery and shooting in Sugar City

Earlier in the newscast, we reported about two shootings in the city last night. But earlier in the evening, in Orange Walk Town, an armed robbery was reported at a local Chinese store. The thieves managed to get away with cash and other items and the shopkeeper was shot in the leg. News Five spoke to Assistant Superintendent Selvin Tillett who says they are reviewing surveillance tapes for clues.

“About seven p.m. on yesterday’s date, the twenty-eighth of April, acting on information the police responded to reports of a robbery at Sun Luck Shop on Zericote Street in the Louisiana area. Upon arrival, police observed blood on the floor. Information revealed that a male person with blue shirt, black pants entered and ordered a fifty dollars phone card. After doing so he leaned over the counter, opened a black bag, pulled out a black object which appears to be a firearm and shot the shop attendant, Yan Shen Yu, thirty-three years Belizean on the right upper thigh. The dark skinned person then jumped on a white beach cruiser bicycle and rode off with an undisclosed amount of money.”

“At this moment we are reviewing a—because they have a camera in the shop so we are reviewing the tapes to see if we can get any hints.”

Luckily, the shop attendant’s injuries were not life threatening.
