Stabbing victim forgives her attacker and drops charges

In the courts, a waitress who was facing eighteen years to life imprisonment for stabbing another woman had a charge of Attempted Murder withdrawn today. But before you assume it was another nolle pros, the reason the case was thrown out was because the victim softened up. Twenty-five year old Kadisja Castillo was stabbed on the face, hand and upper body in September 2008 by a woman she identified as Elisa Chan. When she attempted to defend herself, Castillo was attacked by a second woman who threw her to the ground and kicked her in the face and then the two took off. Castillo managed to make it home and her common-law-husband rushed her to the K.H.M.H. It is alleged that the attack was because Castillo was supposedly in a relationship with Chan’s ex-boyfriend. Castillo was in court today to testify against Chan but when she took the stand she told the court that she does not want to continue the case because “everybody makes mistakes and the kind of person I am is a forgiving person and I’m just glad to be alive”. With that Chan was acquitted of Attempted Murder and was free to go.

i know a lot of people may look at this girl as a fool…but i think it is more difficult for a person to forgive than it is to judge one for their wrongdoings. i hope her decision was not in vain

This crazy b…. woman almost killed another woman over a no-good man, and now she is free to hurt the next woman her no-good-man will have another affair with.
Castillo is an idiot, “guilt” doesn’t set people straight, because if that is the world you lived in, then you probably believe in unicorns as well, and you deserved what you got.
Who knows, maybe today they are one a big happy threesome psycho family.

No one praises them self saying they are a forgiving person, someone put this in her head, by using cash or by threats. ether way ur weak, and it will happen to u again
Ms. Chan should be spending hard time behind bars for stupid. If a woman need to attack another to try and keep or get back in a relationship with a man then he sure as hell is a waste of time. He lacks the respect he should have for you and also you will have to put up with whatever he throws out as you are telling him that you want him back that badly. Women fighting over men keeps our society the way it is; having a lot of men thinking that it is quite ok to have several relationship at one time. Girl if he left you, leave his a@@ alone there are several fishes in the sea and some do taste better than others. Take my word for it.
Ms Chan should make a public apology as she had the luck of meeting with someone who believes in giving a second opportunity. I am not sure if i would have been able to do that. It takes a lot of courage to forgive. I just hope Ms. Castillo did not forgive cause she is being treathened. Ms Chan i want to see you on tv giving your apologies with crocodile tears and all….
mrs. castillo is a nice forgiving person but hoping that mrs. chan can reflect that being forgiven is a once in a life time case. and that she can reflect and give thanks to mrs. castillo. it’s hard to swallow it makes us angry but forgiving is good but justice should always be done.

For starters we must take into consideration that she may have been threaten. Right now in belize everyone is playing reverse russian roulette. The gun is never pointed at the holder. I think we need to bring about some very simple rules to the game. For any crime you get 10 fold the time of what you would normally get and 10 fold the fine and 10 fold the bail charge. All crimes should be accompanied by all three of those things. (very long jail time, a fine and a heafy bail amount that has to be paid even if not found guilty.) While these criminals are in jail they should be forced to learn a trade and use it to produce a sufficent income to payoff their debt they have aquired and cost of living in jail; this way belizeans can get a tax break and the government can take back control of the jail and make alittle profit as well. Hell that money could be used to build a new school or fix the roads. Just think what more jail time, a high bail and a bigger fine along with forced labour to produce income could do for our nation. This is our country its time we take it back from these hoodlums. (BTW I know this lady personally I see her everyday at work)

I am sick and tired just like any true Belizeans of all the crimes, sometimes against innocent people happening on a daily basis in Belize.
When women commit crimes in Belize I see that as a real loss to that country and to much better, decent, and happy Belizean children. Chan almost killed that other woman, and she forgave her, fine, but that does not change the fact that they have wasted time in the court system, while other innocent people are begging for justice or a day in court.
I am Sick and tired of it all, and while the victim can be forgiving for whatever reason the rest of us should not be so forgiven, that is not the kind of word we live in, sad but true.
Maybe Ms Castillo does not own a mirror, the scars on her face are a reminder of the reasons her attackers deserve to be in jail. Forgive her & reserve your place in heaven girl but tell the truth, let the justice system do its job, let the prick you were fighting over get on good terms with his hands or use some other fool but the crazy b needs to be in jail. The next time she may kill someone, maybe even you. Seriously, do you really believe you are any safer now & how long will it be b4 she attacks another woman?
