Police charge their own for wounding without an ID parade

Six cops were hauled to the Magistrates’ Court to face charges of Wounding for allegedly beating thirty-five year old Elvin Torres after the checkpoint at mile four on the Western Highway came under fire on May ninth. Torres was in a pickup truck along with twenty year old Reginald Young; they stopped at the checkpoint after the crossfire between the officers and the assailants. The two claim they simply asked if everyone was okay, but were pursued when they drove off and were later detained at the Hattieville Roundabout. Torres further claims that he was badly beaten by the cops, causing severe swelling to his face and that he could barely see. The accused officers are Kareem Fuller, Tyrone Baizer, Glenwayne Grant and Mark Martinez; all of Belize City along with Fernando Franzua of Hattieville and Henry Nunez from San Ignacio Town. Interestingly, Torres told our court reporter that he was not asked to identify the men in an ID parade and that the case would probably fall apart. The six officers appeared unrepresented, pleaded not guilty and were granted bail of one thousand dollars with no objections from the prosecutor. Torres also says that he was robbed of a gold watch and bracelet, but no charges were levied on that claim because he never made a formal report. The officers are to come back to court on July fourteenth.

This is the guy (Elvin Torres) the at almost robbed me at gun point once with his other 3 friends in 1998 while my friend and I walked by St John’s College. We were saved by other car another coming behind them. He was driving and he stopped and ordered the other guy on the passenger seat to check us out. He asked for my money and I told him I didn’t have anything and the proceeded to open the glove box and I saw the hand held of the gun. Fortunately, a car was coming behind them and Torres told him to get in because of the incoming car.
Around the same year he was driving a delivery truck with other friend in it. It was 4 of us on broad day light on 1999 and he was accusing him of beating one of this friends. I told him I had prove that i was in class that day ( At this point I am still a UCB student) and he grabbed me by the arms and he was about to put in the box of the truck. When my other friend was screaming to stop and they just left. This guy has a history. I am sure he did something to deserve this unless he totally change.

CARELESSLY, THE POLICE OFFICERS INITIATIVE SHOULD BE TO SERVE AND PROTECT AND NOT TO BEAT NOR TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE PEOPLE…. WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO, WE ARE NOT EVEN SAFE AROUND THE POLICE…….

These Stupid Idiots should be OFF the Police Force! And the Court itself did not take this matter seriously. They could have never granted them bail. If this would have happened to my family. I would hire a Hitman to kill every single one of these bastards, idiots, A Holes. These are ugly Monkey Police! I wonder where they found these Losers! People can see that this is all bogus. The looks on their faces as if they are proud of what they did. Torres is right that this will all fall apart. This just makes us get more angry at the injustices of the police department. Thats the mentality these officers have that they are above the law and treat us citizens like animals with no mercy. I’m not taking side for Torres because I dont know him but if he is a bad seed then “yeow” . Thats why so many of their cases fall apart because they pretend to be doing something by hurriedly putting mix up charges on sometimes innocent people just to brag “yea, we solved the murder, we doing something”. Sometimes the real culprit gets the lesser charge. They need to put well educated, trained and un-biased police officers to do these type of investigations and transfer them more regularly because they get too comfortable in one spot and begin doing nonsense. I am not at all happy with the whole police department because they all cover under the same blanket and believe they are above the law. I sure do hope June 2nd brings positive changes.

People never goes with the **** Police, but guess what who r the ones out here risking their lives to protect stupid ****people from the public who are so illiterate to understand the risky job the cops do everyday. They are indeed bad cops but they will suffer who are the ***public to want to play judge and jury.
