Two guilty pleas for drug charges in Magistrates Court

Devon Neal

Several persons were in court today on drug trafficking charges.  Devon Neal, the son of a retired policeman, was riding his bicycle on Arlington Drive when he was intercepted by police officers. The officers searched Neal and found weed in one of his pockets. He pleaded guilty to possession; but that plea was not accepted by the magistrate. Since there was no objection, he was offered bail in the sum of four thousand dollars plus a surety of the same amount ; and he met his bail by three this afternoon. His next court date is set for July twenty-first.

Delia Williams

In the second drug charge in magistrate court, three individuals were charged with drug trafficking. Delia Williams, her younger brother, Max, along with a friend, Elliot Palacio, were jointly charged. At two-thirty p.m., officers searched the William’s home located on Raccoon Street Extension. The officers found nothing inside the home or in the yard. That’s when they decided that the only place left to check was the roof where they found a black plastic bag which contained the cannabis.  The two men pleaded not guilty but Delia pleaded guilty to drug possession. The case was adjourned to give the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions time to consider her plea.  A fine of two thousand five hundred dollars was imposed upon Williams, who has until August fifteenth to pay the fine or a one year jail sentence.  Unfortunately for Williams, the cashier had already closed for the day so she was remanded until Tuesday.
