Was Thomas Logan killed over a love affair?
The weekend’s other murder occurred in San Ignacio where a man was allegedly killed by an enraged lover of a woman he was romantically involved with. Thomas Logan admitted to his common-law-wife only three weeks ago that he was having an affair, but before the weekend was over his body was found close to Sacred Heart College. News Five’s Marion Ali spoke to the families involved.

When forty eight year old Thomas Logan left his family in Santa Elena Town, Cayo on Friday evening to report to his jobsite in Central Farm that night, little did they know that they would never see him return home again. A critically wounded Logan was discovered early Saturday morning between an orange orchard and Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio Town. It is not far from the home of Lupita Chan, who said she saw him late Friday evening in the area.
Lupita Chan, San Ignacio resident
“I just passed to the shop, I see him, I say good afternoon and that’s all.
I noh hear nothing until Saturday morning I hear bout it. I said well dah Friday evening or in the night because it was raining. I can’t hear nothing.
But two people who did hear Logan’s desperate groans were Ivana de Paz and Anthony Codd, who were much closer to the scene of the attack, on Orange Orchard Street.
Ivana de Paz, San Ignacio Resident
“I looked out and I saw the man turning on the ground.”
Marion Ali
“Did you know him?”
Ivana de Paz
“No.”
Anthony Codd, San Ignacio resident
“The reason we knew he was still alive was because he was still moving his tongue and by the time her uncle came over he had stopped.”
Marion Ali
“Did he manage to speak to say who did this to him?”
Anthony Codd
“No he couldn’t speak at all. He was practically gone. When police opened his shirt we saw stab wounds on his body. On his forehead he had a big cut, two big cuts. “
San Ignacio police haven’t retrieved the murder weapon but they strongly suspect that the killing was the result of a jealous rage.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Paul Wade, O.C, San Ignacio
“Logan was visiting a female friend and when he leave the area it appears that the suspect might have been waiting for him. The suspect that we’re looking have recently separated from the female friend that the victim was visiting at the time.”
Logan’s common-law wife of twenty three years and mother of his six children, Maria Esquivel, along with his sister, Mauricia Logan agree with police that the motive could have only been jealousy.
