Attorney pulls “mentally disabled” plea for man busted with cocaine

Three persons were busted inside an SUV with just under twenty pounds of cocaine on April twenty-third. They were all charged with Drug Trafficking and while the two passengers were granted bail, the driver, Franz Hamilton, was remanded to the Hattieville Prison until his next court date. But Hamilton applied to the Supreme Court on May nineteenth and Justice Herbert Lord delivered his ruling today. And for a second time, Hamilton’s bail was not granted, which means he will remain behind bars. Attorney Kevin Arthurs argued that Hamilton should be released for three reasons; he is innocent, he is mentally disabled and therefore not capable of the act, and he is at risk behind bars. Arthurs also claimed that Hamilton had no knowledge of the drugs that were found inside the vehicle. His wife corroborated the claims of his mental disorder, saying it is something that has plagued him all his life and he tends to be overly trusting of people, which could why he now finds himself in trouble. Yohhahnseh Cave, who represented the DPP’s office, strongly opposed bail being and argued that there was no medical advice or certificate presented to support the claims. Justice Lord was not convinced that Hamilton is disabled and referred to his affidavit in which he claims to work as a plumber, electrician, and managing director. Lord also noted that court records shows that Hamilton has three previous convictions, all for drug related offences.

Tell you what, why not just let all the prisoners out of Hattieville prison on the same grounds that they are “mentally disabled”. The man is smart enough to drive a vehicle, have a marriage, ride around with drug dealers and geat in trouble many times. His attorney is chancing the courts with this crop. Where are his friends now, are they coming to his defence now. The insanity is running with people who claims to be friends then leaves you holding the shitty end of the stick, when the rubber hits the road.

  4. Maddyvandijk says:

In Belize a farmer can become Prime minister, a lawyer can become Psychiatrist. The sane can become mentally challenged, case close.
