Clarence Hemmans gets life in prison for murder

Clarence Hemmans was found guilty of the murder of Kevin Arnold last week. Sentencing was reserved for today to give time to the court to ascertain his age at the time of the crime. When the proceedings opened, his attorney Phillip Palacio, informed the court that Hemmans was only seventeen years and nine months old when the murder was committed. He tendered a birth certificate to validate Hemmans’ age which put his birthday at August fifteenth, 1989, only three months short from being considered an adult. But the DPP had already indicated that they would not seek the death penalty and so Hemmans was handed down a sentence of life imprisonment. Arnold was gunned down on May twenty-seventh as he walked on Armadillo Street to meet his girlfriend Shania White when a lone gunman on a bicycle rode up and opened fire. He was shot several times to the body. During the trial, his girlfriend’s testimony was critical to secure Hemmans’ conviction. She told the court that she saw Hemmans shoot Arnold numerous times. In his defense, Hemmans said he was drinking with friends and his common-law wife when the murder took place. But his witness gave a contradictory statement about where they were at the time of the shooting.

One down,many more to go.I think if they are old enough to murder in cold blood,then they are old enough to meet the same faith as their victim did,he willingly with premeditation took someone’s life like it had no value,so he should be hanging from a rope,as if his life has no value.
There goes your tax money, if you really have a job and is paying your GOB tax every month.
It would be costless, if they had just cut his head off.
I had similar thought maddyvandjk…our taxes will pay to keep this individual alive. The bible says that if a tree bears no fruit, its best to cut it. I must applaud the court for not letting this case go to “nolle prosqui”. Seems like we moving in the right direction.
maddy i agree with you, too much ime spent in court with this and the other and all kind of things, yes they should chopped off all a dem head clean, waste no time, you if the law would be like this we would’nt have so much crime in our country,
