Cops still searching for Coke in Jamaica
Jamaican authorities have intensified their search for Christopher “Dudus” Coke, the drug kingpin that is wanted by the US for extradition. Coke, was said to be heading to New York, via Belize but police intelligence on the island indicates that he has not yet left Jamaica. As security forces intensify their manhunt, the home of Kingston’s Mayor, Desmond McKenzie was raided this morning. Cops were looking for a vehicle that was used in the violent outbreak in Tivoli Gardens last week as Coke’s affiliates created barricades to prevent his detention. While they are similar, it turned out that McKenzie’s vehicle is not the one the police are after. Meanwhile, Coke’s brother, Leighton “Levity” Coke handed himself in at the Half Way Tree Police Station on Tuesday evening and is now being held for questioning. Coke, via his attorney Don Foote, is challenging the extradition proceeding. That hearing was to come up in court this morning, but was adjourned for “unforeseen circumstances” as Foote told the Jamaican media, refusing to give further details.
