Prime Minister travels to Florida to be at side of fallen comrade

The shooting of Rodwell Williams sent shockwaves throughout the community. PM Dean Barrow’s friendship with Williams goes back to decades and at least for the last twenty years they have been law partners. The P.M. announced this morning before his press conference that he will be going to the United States to visit his friend and colleague.

“I said what has happened to him is a great tragedy which has affected me personally and in a most fundamental fashion. He is at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. He was stabilized after he was flown there by air ambulance and he was operated on by the surgeons at the trauma center there. His condition, as I understand it, is still very critical but stable. Hopefully, he will improve and eventually be able to achieve a full recovery. I will leave the country tomorrow. I will go up to see him tomorrow morning and stay through Saturday. I want to thank the scores of people that have sent messages of solidarity and support to his family and certainly to me. I received a particularly powerful simple text from a certain individual who shall remain nameless, but it’s a member of the media. I greatly appreciated that. Among the well wishes conveyed, have been a message personally to me from the leader of the opposition, the honorable John Briceño and I want to say publically how much I appreciated that as well.”
Williams’ wife, Felice, accompanied him to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. And later in this newscast, we’ll bring back a report of the April shooting at his law firm.
I wonder who will pay for the PM expensive….

you know, Belize needs a legislation that allows the leader of the opposition to have a post inside the Ministry of Finance so that we can clearly know how the monies of Belize are really used…
In addition, the Contractor General should be appointed by the Opposition Party. This will ensure that Contractor General works in the interest of Belize and not the interest of the Prime Minister who appointed him/her.
This legislation should be permanent installed and established so that government either PUP or UDP are more accountable….It is important that there exist a balance of power…
Any interest group want to push for this recommendation???
I know the Williams family personally and they are good people. My heart goes out to the family, I am praying for his recovery. I can’t imagine what the family and his friend primeminister Barrow are going through. Please keep praying for Rodwell Williams and his family.

It is good that the prime minister will be by his side for a few days, go ahead PM he is your good freind, I would do the same thing for my best friend.

I would like to know who has been running the country these last few days, and how long do the Pm intend to be of absent from his duty.
I hope that PM friend will recover from his ordeal as soon as possible.
Mr. Williams is in a critical condition though with little or no improvement at all, because of the seriousness of his condition he could be in the hospital for quite a long time.
