Nancy Gomez is freed of 14 pounds of weed charge
One of four persons that were jointly charged with Drug Trafficking and possession of two smoking pipes was today freed of the offense. She is Nancy Gomez, a Belizean student studying in the United States. On January third Nancy was along with her boyfriend, twenty-one year old Matthew Stock, eighteen year old Adrian Balderamos, and nineteen year old Fredrick Gomez at a house where the fourteen pounds of weed and the pipes were found. A directive was sent from the DPP’s office to withdraw all charges against Nancy, but she did not show up for the arraignment on April seventh. But the magistrate refused to drop the charges until she entered an appearance and today she did. Meanwhile, attorneys for the other remaining three defendants requested disclosure, which was granted and their next court date was set for July twenty-second. The arrest of the Northside residents came as a result of a search at Stock and Fredrick’s home. Nancy and Balderamos were also charged because they were present at the time of the bust.

Thank goodness.
Legalize the herb and get rid a dih crack head dem.
Did the police have a search warrant????????????????
Good question. I’ve always wondered how this weed busting thing works.
If I’m smoking weed inside my house and a neighbor picks up on the wiff, calls the police — can they seriously just barge into my home and arrest me?
If anyone has information on the procedures of weed busting, I’d appreciate it. As a peaceful weed smoker, I’d like to play it safe.
Earl, YOU DON’T NEED A SEARCH WARRANT WHEN THERE IS PROBABLE CAUSE TO BELIEVE SOMETHING IS ILLEGAL. Better reporting needs to be done, was she released on bail, or was she released without having to appear before court, because this DON’T MAKE NO SENSE. If it was a NOBODY, he would be charged for having 1 oz of drugs, and these FOOLS HAVE 14 LBS, common where is the JUSTICE? Besides paying a fine these FOOLS should get prison time. Counts – possession of drugs, possession of paraphernelia with intent to distribute, because I know they weren’t going to SMOKE IT UP ALONE.
if she got free with 14 lbs well let the guys with cigarrete weed free also. it’s rediculous what they did with her.
well…if i was hanging out with some guys and they were busted with weed at the time of hanging out, i wouldn’t want to get myself involve with that….if she realy didn’t have anything to do with it…its ok that they let her go…
well actually in my Caribbean law classes at UWI it is outrightly said that a person really cannot be charged for a crime if illegal substance is found on the premises by police officers without a warrant. If they have reason to believe that a person has illegal substances they must first attain a warrant and then proceed to inspect and arrest. If they had Dickie Bradley on this case it would have been over a long time ago.
i totally disagree with Sasha’s comments about sending this young woman to prison because she was in the house where drudgs was found. My personal experience was I went to the house of my friend’s friend many years ago, not knowing that his friend was involve in drudgs until I was at his house. If there was a police bust I would have been arrested for something I knew nothing about. Need lest to say, that was the last time I went to that residence.
Law enforcement should not be only about arresting, charge and try to convict. A responsible person in such a position that holds the future of the citizens at their beck and call is called tobe reasonable; why? When you stop to realize that a police officer can arrest an innocent person and plant a charge on that person, lets not forget that,. especially in today’s crime infested police force. Anyone remember a case many years ago when a citizen confronted two police officers on west canal for wrong doings while on duty, and the police turn the table on him and had him arrested on bogus charges which he had a hard time getting justice? A vindictive police officer can make your day very long Sasha.
Say all you want about innocent until provren guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The moment the police arrest a person that person has the short end of the stick. In reality there is no such thing as giving the accused the benefit of the doubt; that’s only in words, not in reality. The presumption of guilt is on the accused since its the opinion of the vast majority of individuals that the accused must have done some wrong that justify his/her to be arrested.
MANFORD, If Nancy didn’t appear when she was scheduled, that is a RED FLAG ALREADY. No one else appears to have been at home but, the 3 of them. It is probable that she had some knowledge of what was happening, unfortunately, right place, wrong time.
Police do plant things on suspect, especially if they are trouble makers, so they won’t have to be running after them continuously.
yuh see dey babylon them, they need fi stop presha ppl fi just wah stick ah herb….. dis da no wah drug like cocaine or heroin, furthermore, them need fi start presha d pplz weh d buss ah d murders and robberies, and they need fi get they own dutty police dem str8en out, caz i know nuff ah dem same babylon them ah d same 1s weh d do some ah d most crimes out yah, n u want we respect them? how can we give respect when the Belize Police Force wont even give the Belizeans respect?
