Shooter of Rodwell Williams named

The lifelong friend and law firm partner of Prime Minister Dean Barrow, Rodwell Williams, was shot last Monday night in an execution style attack by two unknown assailants. Williams was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami for treatment where tonight Williams is still in critical condition. Doctors remain vigilant at his side due to the gravity of his condition. According to sources, Williams’ kidney’s appears to be functioning and he is making some small improvement. On Thursday, Prime Minister Dean Barrow flew to Miami to be at Williams’ side during this delicate period. Speculation abounds but just before departing Belize, the Prime Minister said that Williams was not in fear for his life. Up to news time, investigations continue as the motive for the crime remains a mystery. The investigation is picking up as the DPP may be preparing to charge two men for his attempted murder. It is alleged that members of South Side Gangsters or SSG carried out the attempted hit. The police department has received a caution statement from one of the men who went to carry out the hit. They have also allegedly received a statement from Ricky and another statement from the man who loaned out his bicycle to carry out the hit. Ricky Valencia from the Yabra Area in Belize City is being held by the police in relation to the crime.

our once peaceful country is fast becoming a human slaughter house and it seems that there is nothing law enforcement can do about it, instead they are the ones who are the leader of the pack,what a shame,wake up my people
We are all aware that someone has to be held responsible for this hit on Williams, I hope the tips that the police are receiving are leading them to the right person and that they are not using just any aquaitants of the shooter to balance out this case. Wait and see.

it makes you wonder if he was into the drug trade also but no one wants to mention it why else would they shoot him not just because they dont like him or because he is a lawyer more than likely he was involved in some way with the drug trade or drug people why is no one looking into that just because he is the friend of the pm wake up people bring back the hanging penalty what this pm has done to try and combat crime is a joke a major joke this is not a part of belize gone bad its the drug trade that brings death corruption greed people being hooked on drugs they would kill their own mother you think a safe zone will help that what a joke belizeans wake up your not dreaming demand the hanging penalty.

I agree with u bzepride in this country it takes money to get anything done in this country. Maybe this will bring the rich back to the light. People are suffering in belize instead of going to miami or where ever u go help the impoverished youths.

It’s a shame the crime rate has escalated in Belize the once peaceful and beautiful country. I went to the Bahamas this year for the first time all my vacations have been home (Belize) for the past 25 years and after visiting another country and culture I will probably NEVER vacation home again for some time until the crime matter has been handled. I wish Mr. Williams a speedy recovery; and to my people I hope we can get this under control.
Belize need the British army on the street if they have to as some one stated it was too easy they find the shooter why they cannot find the other families that lost there family and the innocent family members that had there love one shot since 2009 there are way too many shooting going on since the Goverment take over i am no U D P or P U P .IT Is sad to see so many Belizean in the morgue not even the dogs or cat dying so fast in Belize there are more human dying than the animals it is sad .the Goverment need a shake up along with the head of police department .if they do not make change Belize will become one of the worst country to come to visit Blame it on the new Goverment ,in the Belize city they need the British arm to open there own station on all the worst part of Belize it is sad once a beautiful country become ugly since 2009 .Tourist getting rob 1000 less visiting Belize less US dollars spending If Belize do not get a quick make over it is going to be destruction and many more body bags on the street .You have a lot of rich Belizean that would like to come home to help out but are afraid to fly home to a country that is so upside down they would like to come home and help until the situation change all these rich Belizean will never come home it is sad Belizean can not come home .Another thing Belize has the ugliest police dept.change the colour of the building ,have the building inside and out paint.

Its a shame with all that is happening in Belize concerning crime. It’s at its highest peak at the moment. so much killing besides all the robberies going on. An it’s such a shame that only becuase an important figure was shot that there is so much movement going on. What happens to the other innocent people that die everyday, their families that have to grieve with no console from the police department. It’s very sad to where our already poor country is heading. Something like this had to happen for the department to start doing their their job and that is if they ever find out who paid for the hit. Such a shame!
These guys needs to b placed infront of sum no good rogue cops of belize. cuz we have a lot of them. they should be shot.

By other hand, as I has been published in Belize newspapers, the new social programs will address the security situation. In my opinion, some measures applied in other countries like the unemployment aid could be considered; another program deals with food stamps; community dialogues with autorithies; scholarships. The environment caused by the problem of narcotics, if this is the case, is being addressed in many cities around the world, thus the public officials in charge of it are communicating and sharing their expiriences in order to reduce the number of violent cases.
what i needed to mention was now that they have the shooters, they need to put their pictures up so belizeans can know who these scum bags are. Hopefully also we can learn who hired these guys, thats the most important thing that needs to be answered.
