Police department has lost the trust of the public
In light of the number of number of incidents involving rogue behavior by the police, on Tuesday’s newscast we asked: Do you think the police has the support of the community to rid the streets of crime? Seventy-six percent of the persons who polled were of the view that there is little or no trust from the public in the police. One viewer said, “How can the police expect public support if they are perceived as part and parcel of the problem? Even if the effort is genuine, the police no longer have credibility so it all looks like a sham.” While another viewer says, “Until the police learn to respect the citizens of this country, then and only then will people be willing to assist them.”
I notice that you all do the Poll every week or so. It is very nice and I encourage you all to continue it. However is it really a true reflection of the entire Belizean population…Do you all have data on how many people actually uses the poll… The data maybe biased to only those Belizeans or other who have access to internet. I think that from polls we can’t make valid and stong conclusions such as the ones you all make on your news cast. Polls are not scientific study. As a matter of fact it is one of the most amateur form of survey. As I said before they are nice to see what people are thinking, but significant conclusions cannot be drawn from them. Oh and by the way I too have lost trust in the police department : )
that’s true yezzi… there are frequent commentator here and if you read their comments its all biased or discriminatory. so the channel 5 poll shouldn’t the final conclusion. i am not too sure how many household has internet access… and how many really have time to read the news and cast a vote..totally agree with u.. and me too. lost trust in the police department.. sad but true. 🙂
i have lost the trust of police along time ago … i have had an a friend who was in high school . he was a friend . he got into trouble with the law when a bunch of them made their decision to go and steal. he was 14 years old and he was pin to be the leader. anyway he was solely charge for this crime until today it still affects him because his police records shows that he was a thief . now looking at crime today you can kill and walk free.. ridiculous. you can thief , rape, and be free ridiculous…
