Alwyn Gonzalez, despite several charges, applies for bail
There is a development to report tonight in the drug trafficking case against Alwyn Gonzalez. He faces four counts of drug trafficking charges and an ammunition charge in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court. Gonzalez and his common law wife, Tasha Herrera, were both charged after officers raided their King’s Park home on May nineteenth. Two searches were simultaneously carried out, one in the home and one in the yard. Herrera witnessed the search in the home, but not the one in the yard, where the police claimed they found two point four kilograms of cocaine. Both were remanded and bail applications were heard today in the Supreme Court. Attorney Dickie Bradley argued that the circumstances under which the police found the cocaine were questionable.
In Bradley’s argument, the unsupervised search was a violation of the couple and in the case of Gonzalez, he was not even present when the search was conducted.Justice Troadio Gonzalez after hearing the arguments from Bradley and the DPP’s representative, Yohhanseh Cave, reserved his ruling. But in the bail application for Herrera, she was granted bail in the sum of ten thousand dollars. In another case, still involving Gonzalez, he and Tiffara Bradley were charged with three counts of drug trafficking for six point one grams of suspected heroin, twenty seven point four grams of crack cocaine and three hundred and fifty nine grams of marijuana, as well as with the possession of a pipe used to smoke cannabis and possession of ammunition. The illicit materials were all found at a house on Guadaloupe Street. Justice Gonzalez, also heard a request for bail on this incident. Tests have now proven that one of the substances found at the address, turned out to be something other than heroine. The ruling has also been reserved
