Two teens charged for robbery of Accent Store
Almost three months ago, on March twenty-fifth of this year, Accents Shop located on North Front Street was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight. It was a brazen job—the handy work of two robbers—one, a minor, captured by police after he opened fire on them and in an exchange was shot; while the other, who it is believed accidentally shot himself, made good his escape. However, on Tuesday, June eighth, police finally caught up with the second suspect, eighteen year old Julian Dyer, a resident of George Street who never sought treatment at any local hospital despite his injuries. This morning, both Dyer and the minor appeared in court, for the first time, to answer to the charges before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer. They were both slapped with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of robbery. The aggravated assault was allegedly committed on Georgia Flowers while the two robberies were committed on: George Hoare, who was robbed of his gold ring valued at five hundred dollars, a six hundred and fifty dollars man’s wrist watch and five hundred dollars cash; and Rennick Baizar, stripped of nine hundred dollars cash and his blue Samsung flip Smart cell phone valued at three hundred dollars. Keeping in line with the laws, Senior Magistrate Frazer told the accused that she could not grant them bail because of the use of a firearm. The minor who had been arraigned initially in the Belize Family Court had appeared two weeks after the shooting and was on remand at the Belize Booth Camp due to his age until today when he was charged jointly with Dyer. The partners in crime are due back in Magistrate’s Court on July twenty-sixth.
