Minutes after the fatal shooting of reputed street figure Andre Trapp on Thursday morning, law enforcement officials attached to Operation Jaguar descended upon Southern Foreshore. Sections of Regent and Albert streets were closed to vehicular traffic as officers scoured the area in search of two suspects whom they believe carried out the execution of the South Side Gangsters (S.S.G.) leader. While police were able to apprehend and detain Nicoli Rhys on Bliss Promenade, his accomplice made good his escape. Charges are expected to be brought against Rhys tomorrow, Saturday, in connection with the daring midmorning murder of Trapp and he is expected to be taken to court as early as Monday. Twenty-four year old Andre Trapp was gunned down in a hail of bullets while making his way to the parking lot at the rear of the NICH Building on Regent Street. He was leaving Courtroom Number Two following the adjournment of a drug trafficking case against him. A police investigation remains ongoing and so far a second arrest is yet to be made. A previous unsuccessful attempt was made on Trapp’s life in January when a grenade, believed to be one of several that went missing from BATSUB, was lobbed at his residence on Caesar Ridge Road.
A few hours after the downtown shooting police and B.D.F. personnel stormed Trapp’s home where a search was conducted. His relatives alleged that the officers barged into the lower flat of the two storey residence and pointed their weapons at the children who were watching television. Police Press Officer, Sergeant Fitzroy Yearwood has deferred comment on the incident.
If the Police and BDF cannot eliminate the gangs,then you should hire
people like these to get rid of them. Unless you control the crime,

be changed and people should be able to own guns to protect their

Wow Belize is rapidly becoming a face of a mini Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan or Gaza. All you hear about are the killings and near misses. Guess what is that the generation type that will see Belize go down the drain. A vicious death circle, Belize needs divine intervention, and not a place where murders dominate the daily news. Positive things can be allowed to flow and rebuild if some don;t always wanna take things into their own hands. However the justice system needs to improve, the religious groups need to take a stand for human rights and morality. So we learn to respect each other. I mean our identity and beliefs (spiritual), we must learn to live as one and not divided, it’s written in the bible a house divided among itself will crumble. Division brings grief and success will not be achieved. However it starts from speaking the truth, be open to criticism, and have straight forward communication that everyone can understand. Let’s end the divide and rule tactics that has long kept us seperated. Let’s stand out as a place of peace, love and prosperity even in these difficult times. Remember we’re not suppose to fight the flesh and blood, but we must unite and fight against the principalites of darkness of which satan is the dominant factor.
i know they were trying to save his life while attempting to transport him to KHMH but they these HIGHLY TRAINED OFFICERS know that any injured persons has to be moved if not at all with care. any sudden or wrong move and they can succumb to their injury…

Am a close friend of the late andre trapp 1st i would like 2 say its so ridiculous that he was murdered infront of the courthouse where many arm forces were placed 2 b able 2 help an i am not making any acqusations but y is it that while dre was alive the pm had only 1 security for protection but as dre died he seem 2 have gotten afraid so he got 3 y is that? i dnt like the rumors that is being carried around about how the …… had smthing 2 do with his murder. No matter what the man was going to have his day in court and no one have the right to take your life. It’s a dame shame what is currently taking place in my home town Belize City. Man is being gun down in the middle of the day with officials present. As the person above stated something is wrong with this picture. I knew Mr. Trapp from a child; however, whenever I will visit I will hear rumor that he is the leader of this supposing gang that is involved in all the killing that has taken place in the community. But, what I don’t understand was why wasn’t this person incarcerated, and be punished for his behavior, along with all his followers. Do they have bosses in authority? The reason I ask the question is because I don’t believe we have elementary dropouts running the communities. If we as a nation don’t correct this problem it’s a shame on us and we should not blame the uneducated, poor and hungry youths for doing what they know best. It’s our responsibility to come up with a proactive plan to solve our problems.

Andre Trapp don’t need your Sympathy… Many are extremely happy to know that he is actually, finally dead. But don’t rejoice in it because everyone of us has an expiration date. It might have been a plot, set up, cruel execution whatever you want to refer to it as, it’s all the same – He’s gone now. There is no need to rectify his character now – He’s dead… The Andre Trapp that myself & the family knows is not the Andre Trapp that the society made him out to be. Andre used to hold down a lot of drama from unfolding, now who will sway some young idle minds? But, Indulge yourselves since it’s such a great celebration. The lost is hard for His family to deal with. We say we want Belize to be free from crime & killing the “leaders” of gangs is the solution; it’s not. Some fool just opened a flood gate… The fact that a man – Not Andre Trapp- a man- got killed in front of the Court; don’t U think it will happen again. Personally I think that the gangs are working for the politicians each party has their bad guys that does their dirty work for them, that is the reason why it’s such a difficult job to put them down also lots of dirty police men not all the police men mind you but lots of dirty ones, I think that the good cops should really try to separate themselves from those dirty ones because it makes them all look dirty, I have heard stories where dirty cops have guys in the villages selling drugs for them and that they are responsible for lots of the robberies that is going on around, Belize is just too small for a government with good intentions not to be able to control the activities of it’s citizens, I think a good start would be the issuance of a national ID that one must have in ones possession at all times.

Young Ppl need to accept God as their Savior and trust in him. As a missionary to Belize, I read these responses daily to get a pulse of where my people are in their thinking…. The Bible says as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he….I hear the anger, the frustration and fear in these responses.It is the heart that need to be changed. We live out of our hearts. God want to give us a new heart.
As I have stated before, man look to man to solve problems that only God our creator can do… We do it our way, we get our results. What is hapening in Belize is what is common to man. The same things are hapening in Chicago and every major urban city in the U. S and abroad. God love the world, Jesus die for the world ( sinners ) yes Andre, SSG 4 Life and all the other gang bangers. He came that we might have life, but there is death all around us. I have left Belize almost 50 years ago and after graduating from Bible College, God instructed me to go back to my people like Moses to his people….I am back in Belize and have teams ( Americans ) whom I believe God have placed His love in their hearts to share His love to my people. They have given up their family and comfort to live in Belize city. There is hope for Belize, in the midst of the darkness, there is light, God is doing a work. Sometimes we have to hit bottom before we can look up. Yes, we all need to pray ernestly for our country and leaders, that is what I am doing and hope that as of today, I can have some of you to join with mein prayer. The prayer of the Righteous availeth much, Prayer changes things. God love Belize, He did it in the Bahamas with Miles Monroe, 90% Born again Believers living for God, ( Prime Minister saved )

If the Government want solution to this problem they need an Operation Organized and lead by the Military. All information shows that the Police are part and parcel of the crime situation in this country. Is it a mystery that so many Police Officers were stationed at the Magistrates Court and none were in the parking lot? I have been to court many times and on that date it was the first time I did not see any Police Officers in the Parking lot. One must only question the motive of the Police. I educated conclusion is that the Police can not honestly tackle the crime situation, because they are the originators, so they have to resort to brutalilty. In the words of the COMPOL, “I have to get rid of those crooked Senior Officers.” I fully support his claim. Mr. Prime Minister retract the Police and send in the Military. They know how to look for specific targets and get them out without disturbing the flow of the everyday life. Use your true security experts. Use the BDF. If you wish you can even throw in that BDF Officer that stopped the contraband in Benque.

Andre was certainly not a saint but the people around him knew his heart. he didnt feed others or paid their school fees out of drugs money!!!! the people close to him knew that he worked. he was a gang member but he was also a father, a borther, son, cousin, a friend and a spouse. he took care of his poeple. if he took any life let God be the judge of that. we are meire human beings. and all u poeple calling him a murder are all murders also for being glad that he is dead. no sin is gteater than the other. if he killed and you told a lie about something you are both sinners and will be punished if you dont repent.
