Businessman scammed out of $15,000 during land transaction

In the west, a resident of Camalotte Village is tonight facing a charge of forgery after he allegedly passed himself as the Manager of Recondev to obtain thousands of dollars from an unsuspecting businessman. According to Zhi Yiang Zhang, sometime between the eleventh and thirteenth of April, while at the offices of Recondev in Belmopan, he was approached by a person who identified himself as Omar Woodeye and claimed he was the manager of Recondev. Woodeye allegedly offered to sell him a piece of land valued at thirty-seven thousand dollars. To seal the sale, Woodeye showed Zhang the parcel of land and a letter indicating Recondev’s approval. As a result, Zhang gave Woodeye a deposit of fifteen thousand dollars towards the land. But on May twenty-ninth, the scam was busted when Zhang met with the real General Manager of Recondev, Peter August, who also confirmed that Recondev had not issued any letter on the land. Woodeye is expected to be arraigned shortly.

Woodeye is the driver for a Minister of State in that area…Am certainly that nothing will come out of this incident because of political affiliation.

It will happen like the driver of the COMPOL that was not charged for attacking the son of a police officers some weeks ago.

How could no one have seen this happening at the beginning stage….sure sounds fishy……..other people in HIGHER places must have been involved……….his boss Ramon needs to be asked some tough questions about this, and I would advise Belizeans to go check Recondev to make sure they still have their lots…..

Please read over that comment you submitted above … “wat a shtupid chiney man, he shoulda mi open his eyes bigger …”
I want you to read it aloud. Let’s say, hmm, about five times.

    1. “shtupid chiney man”
    2. “shouldah mih open his eyes bigger”

I’m not sure if you intended to use this man’s race as a Chinese man and his physical characteristics as a Chinese man to enhance the point in your criticism above regarding this news story, but if that was the case, I hope you see the error of your ways.

The Chinese are a part of the Belizean Community, just as the Creoles, the Garinagu, the Mestizo, the Maya, the East Indians, the Mennonites, the Taiwanese and others.

If your comments were indeed racist in nature, it is a clear example of why the Chinese in Belize suffer merciless disrespect by the other ethnic groups.
And also why they are frequent victims of crime, such as the lady in this story: http://www.7newsbelize.com/index.php#story6
