Accident victim, Stacey Kerr, passes away
Twenty year old Stacey Kerr, a resident of Burrell Boom Village who was paralyzed after falling off the railing of a verandah at her house a few weeks ago, succumbed to her injury over the weekend. On the night of June fifth following a party held at the couple’s home in the village, Stacey and her boyfriend were reportedly playing around when she fell from the verandah of their bungalow apartment. What’s interesting is that the verandah is less than five feet in height but the freak accident caused multiple fractures to her spine. As a result Kerr was bedridden at the K.H.M.H. for a little over two weeks and despite several surgeries doctors could not save her. This afternoon Maria Kerr, Stacey’s mother, spoke with News Five dispelling rumors of domestic violence as the cause of the incident.
Maria Kerr, Mother of Deceased
“Stacey told me that it was an accident mommy, I fell, you know. We were playing and I fell. There were three people there with her and, you know, everybody said the same thing. Unlike the stories that people are talking and are saying that my daughter was drunk and that my daughter was being beaten up by her boyfriend that’s a total lie. The doctor said it was a miracle because they did the x-ray and they saw that my daughter, you know, a lot of people drop like that but you know, should have died on the spot. It’s a miracle she made it to the hospital and lived fifteen days. The doctors at the KHMH did a wonderful job. They did two surgeries on Stacey. Dr. Nunez and Dr. Rion they’re very, very good doctors. I must say with the little that they have they did a lot. I applaud the hospital for everything and all the nurses who worked night and day with my daughter I am so grateful and thankful. God knows best and we all have to realize that miracles do happen and my daughter is an angel. She’s in a better place resting.”

“Talk to us a bit about the complications that led to her death over the weekend.”
Maria Kerr
“The doctors are gonna do an autopsy. We are not sure because they did everything. They tried to control everything. She had fever, she had complications breathing but what we noticed she had her abdominal was swollen and you know the doctors they did an x-ray on her abdominal and they couldn’t come up with anything wrong with her abdominal so they said it was air and they were gonna take it out and I talked with Dr. Godinez. He was monitoring my daughter from three-thirty p.m. Saturday when we found out that she had complication until quarter past six when she passed away Sunday morning.”
Ironically, fundraising efforts were being organized by Stacey’s friends and family this past Sunday. The former student of Pallotti High School is well known and was crowned Ms. Burrell Boom in 2006 at a local pageant held in the village.

May God be with you Stacey, the village of Burrell Boom give our heartfelt condolences to Maria and her family. May Stacey rest in peace.
It’s soooo sad to hear what happened to Stacey, although we didn’t talk much. I would visit her mom’s shop sometimes and i would meet her there behind the counter attending to customers or she would fly past me on her lil scooter on the road since i don’t live that far from her house. But i guess bad things do happen to good people……Stay strong Maria ..she is in a better place now…rest in peace Stacy..
May she rest in peace and may GOD give you the family strength to continue.
May she rest in peace. It was just a crazy accident that happened . God needed her in heaven. May her family find the strenght to deal with this sad tragedy.
