Moses Michael Leviy, the rapper better known as Shyne, is working on his first album since his release after nine years of incarceration in a U.S. Federal Prison. The rapper, who was once attached to the BadBoy Label, has signed a multimillion dollar deal with L.A. Reid of Def Jam Records. Shyne is working on the cover photos for his upcoming album. Earlier today an international crew was with Shyne at his home at the top of Renaissance Towers in Belize City. The photo shoot is expected to be taken to other locations throughout the country. The rapper puffed on a cigar while sporting military fatigues on the rooftop. Shyne was in good spirits as another famous music producer, Irv Gotti, the founder of Inc. Record Label, formerly known as Murder Inc. Recently on the internet, Shyne released his rhyme on Rihanna’s number one hit, Rude Boy. He also released a track called Messiah, which will be on the upcoming album. Leviy’s handlers promised us an interview with Gotti, but the shoot had to break for a two hour prayer session. We’ll try again for tomorrow’s newscast.

Needless to say that as a former Army specialist I find it very offensive for this convicted felon to be wearing military fatigues on his videos. Thankfully he was wearing the now obsolete woodland cammo instead of the modern digital version, then I would have been really pissed.

Being named Ambassador was just an attempt to get in him back in the U.S. Good thing the U.S. has not accepted his Diplomacy and only granted him transit rights only. I ask you guys apart from the publicity that he is giving to Belize by taking the photos here, What other good thing has he done or is he doing to promote local musical artists and young aspiring artist and the Belizean Musical Arena as a whole?….I got an answer for you…NOTHING!!!!!!! Is he considering donating part of his financial gain to promote or help in developing the Belizean musical culture? What is he, in his capacity as the “musical ambassador” doing to promote our musical culture?…Does he have any knowledge at all about our Belizean Music like the Brukdown? Has he made any statement on the Loss of one of our most treasured musical icons, Mr. Peters, who recently passed away? Can Anyone answer these questions?…

I agree with most of my fellow belizeans and their comments, I bet if he had became very famous he would not affiliate himself as a belizean. I think he is a disgrace to us and we should not support him, this is not the type of publicity Belize needs. If he wants to do something positive, start by contributing to the community and I dont even want to think of the words his songs will have.
Interesting comments. The bottom line is this: He did the crime and paid the price. Thing Done. Until he is convicted of another crime, let the man live. He’s spent a better part of his life in the U.S. so that’s what he knows. The entourage comes with the package. Yes, he could have promoted a Belizean Photographer. Sure, he could have claimed the country more. It does not change the fact that he IS Belizean! He’ll learn that our people love and care for those who love and care for our country. This negativity doesn’t change his view about the country or the people, it only contributes to it.

Shyne did his photoshoot here cause he couldn’t go anywhere else. I dont think anyone hating on him. For my part, I wish he would invest in Belize, open a school as Maddyvandijkn rightly said. That is the right thing that a musical Ambassador would do. With his connections, he could set a world-class studio and seek talent through a competition.

Perhaps Shyne talks the way he does because he is miserable in Belize. Like many deportees, he misses the life he threw away in the US as he did not return home by choice. Every opportunity he gets he reminds us that he could have been in some other country living a more luxurious life, so i guess we should be lucky to have this brainless, arrogant yankee – wanabe.
On the other hand, we could just ignore his postings and news appearances, and not blame the media because he’s not the only artists they promote. Shyne is famous and infamous at the same time. He did stupid thing and he paid the price with his freedom and future in the country he truly loves and prefers.
A part of me wants to believe that he’s suffering the consequencies of being the son of a Prime Minister who’s famous for Nepotism. If he had any brain cells, he would have told Dear Dad that he doesn’t think he fits the profile of a musical ambassador for Belize as he truly doesn’t really care for this country, its local music or artists! My belizean brothers and artists, don’t worry about Shyne, he’s luckier than most struggling Belizeans but doesn’t appreciate his fortune because so many ‘Jane Ordinary’ like myself can travel freely to the states and we don’t even have his wealth, fame, nor political afilliation as part of the “First Family” of Belize.

We have more deserving Belizeans who are not rich nor come from famous families that would do a better job or are at the very least more deserving of such title. Im not doubting his skills. Nicely put Proud Belizean!! That is what we are saying exactly. And to those who think that some of us are being political, we are not. Its a simple fact, that this guy has not done nor has made public any statements that include any future plans for promoting or developing local musical artists or local music. We are not “hating on him” because he is famous. Am happy when I see that Belizeans are successful as he is, that is if he could only accept willingly that he is indeed Belizean. We cannot, for example, say that about our “Film Ambassador or commissioner” (correct me if I am wrong in the title). For years we haven’t seen anything in the news about how Belize is being promoted through film industry until recently. Not to mention, that the guy is not as famous an actor as Shyne is a musical artist. He too lived a great period of his life in the states but yet he has shown interest in promoting Belize through the film industry. He too was made Film Commissioner under the government of the Hon. Dean Barrow.Can we say that about Shyne? No!! So please…Belizeans lets not corrupt ourselves in putting nasty politics into our discussions. That type of thinking has to stop.
