Students march against violence after beating death of Shaquille Bennett
On June fourth, a fifteen year old Independence Village schoolboy, Shaquille Bennett, was viciously attacked by a group of his own peers. One of them allegedly beat him to death with a baseball bat. The incident happened behind Rosas Restaurant in the village and the gruesome attack prompted school children from that ordinarily quiet community to show their disgust at what happened. Last Friday, schoolchildren from several primary schools in Independence paraded through the streets of that village to protest the attack. The students, joined by parents and teachers, were vocal as they braved the sun, shouting “Stop the violence”.
Charity begins at home the parents of these kids are also to blame.
