Leon Wallace pleaded guilty to Handling Stolen Goods
Also in court, nineteen year old year old Leon Wallace pleaded guilty to Handling Stolen Goods. He was initially charged with Burglary for a break-in at the home of Rosa Leal in Ladyville which occurred on June eighth. The stolen household items, which collectively valued three thousand five hundred and seventy-five dollars, were later discovered at Wallace’s mother’s house. Wallace appeared in court along with his mother and ten year old brother, who were also present when the bust was made but only he was charged. His guilty plea for the lesser charge was accepted this afternoon and his mother and younger brother were free to go. The penalty for Handling Stolen Goods is usually a fine, but because the crime has become so prevalent in the Ladyville area, Magistrate Kathleen Lewis sentenced Wallace to a year and a half in prison.
Good precedence. Normally murderers walk free of charges at the courts and those who are convicted, get short sentences. How about since murder is prevalent in Belize City, Magistrates should sentence murderers to be hanged.
What do you say, Belizeans?
