Daniel “Danny” Anderson arraigned for murder of Joyce Mitchell

Daniel Anderson

In the other murder last week, police believe they have the man who cold-bloodedly murdered nineteen year old Joyce Mitchell in front of her Sibun Street home a week ago. This morning, Daniel “Danny” Anderson, a fisherman of Belize City, who has been in custody since last week, was taken to court in handcuffs and arraigned for her murder. Anderson is next to return to court on July twenty-third. Mitchell was standing in front of her yard along with several other family members after six o’clock in the evening, when a man rode up, wearing a black T-shirt, cap and with his mouth and nose covered, opened fire. One of the bullets caught Mitchell and she died hours later at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. This is not Anderson’s first brush with the law for murder charges. He was once charged with the murders of Keiva Leslie and Dorian Michael who were shot execution-style and found dead near the Haulover Bridge off a feeder road.   Anderson was freed when the key witness in the case, Jamie Chavarria, did not show up to testify. Anderson also beat the murder rap in the case of Celestino Zetina.  He was the SEL Supervisor and husband who had gone missing for nine days before his body was found at Mile three on the Western Highway.

I am happy to know that someone has been charged in the ruthless murder of this innocent young lady. but my question is, what about the young men who were involved in orchestrating this crime. what will be done about them.

  2. Robert says:

Here appears to be an example of the predatory type of professional criminal who police need to focus on to put away forever, so he can never hurt another person. Our best police and best prosecutors need to make a list of the worst public enemies — they know who they are — and then track them like animals until they can put them away. When they are locked up for good, one by one, Belize will gradually become the Jewel again. Until then, all Belizeans are like lambs waiting to be slaughtered. Who will be next?

  3. Sar says:

This dude need to be HANG.

  4. NEWARK says:

Why is it that laws in Belize is so weak that allow this gut to be on the streets again to committ another crime please. The law should be of such that if the witness does not show they are affraid they should hold the trial, then soemthing like this would not happen again they are so sick they make me sick every time I read the news.

you SOB, you could run but you can’t hide, Jesus Christ of Nazareth always bring things out into the lite. I pray that this time you pay for your crime, you good for nothing, you don;t deserve to live, you murderer, you got away the first time, but this time somebody will surely BROKE your NECK.

OH how I wish they would put you in front of the firing squad!!!!!

  6. Proud Belizean says:

I agree with Robert on the list of public worst enemies. Hope this is not just another murder raps he beats. DPP should show us that she means business!

  7. eye for an eye says:

Know u see who killed your family!!! Live by the GUN DIE by the GUN….

  8. newjustice says:

how can you drop a case because the witness don’t show up? Only in Belize….we deserve what we have

  9. BELIZEAN PRIDE says:

let him be the first to be hang, lets start with this guy and see if we can find the killer for Neisa and he’ll be the second in line. lets start hanging people and we’ll see what they’ll think before they do crime. If we just sing hanging and no one is hang they all know we are playing and not keeping our word that’s why they don’t stop killing.

  10. Innocent until proven Guilty says:

Reading all the comments, i have to agree with most of what is said……….we need to rid the streets of our beautiful jewel of criminals…………we will start rite inside the Belize Police Dept……….dat is a mafia organization………each and everyone of them know who committed dat crime, but like Mr. Jefferies always say……”look at our statistics”…………they just want the media to put out dat an arrest was made and dat a man was charged…………is dis the rite man??? We complain dat our justice system has failed us, but is it really the justice system or the police dept dat is failing us??? Let’s not be ignorant and turn our eyes away from the truth……….we dont have investigative police men…………it is easy for me to go down to the station and say dat John Doe fired a shot at me………..i need no witness, especially if John Doe is known to have fired a gun b4 and he is put away………….let’s start doing this thing the rite way and put the rite ppl behind bars not who we just want to settle a beef with or show dat it is in our power to put u behind bars…………dats the reason y the young men are walking free from these charges…….

In the U.S.When some one don’t show up to testified in court. The state pick up the case.Belize need to change they laws.

  12. maddyvandijk says:

The girl that was killed brother is also a gang-leader\member possibly the reason why she was gunned down in cold blood.

So, if we are going to hang this murderer then shouldn’t we also hang the brother and the rest of the gangs too. is he not going to take revenge for the death of his sister, see, more people will die as long as gangs exist in Belize.

  13. Lords follower says:

    Maddyvandijk,

reading your comments i can only gather that you contribute in no positive way to Belize’s well being. Also it seems that you are hoping for a retaliation. What you need to write about is encouraging positive outcome. for example, a hope, a plea that her brother would learn from this tragedy and turn away from a life of crime. But typical Belizean, they complain about crime and violence, yet yearning for it cause how else would you get a rush to keep on writting negative slurs that do not promote change.

The victim here is the young lady (Joyce) and the person who took her life senselessly should pay for this injustice. Justice is served one person at a time…
