Chain snatcher goes to jail for five years
Twenty-one year old Michael Foreman, who is currently on remand at the Hattieville Prison for murder, was today sentenced to five years for the crime of attempted robbery. The incident dates back to April eleventh of last year when Angela Thompson reported to Belize City police that whilst walking along Newtown Barracks she was accosted by Foreman who proceeded to grab a gold chain from around her neck. The attempt however, was unsuccessful as the chain fell into Thompson’s blouse. An off duty officer who heard her scream for help responded by drawing his service weapon and arresting Foreman at the scene. Foreman is currently on remand for the murder of Eddie Neal, which occurred in late 2009. Neal was in the area of North Creek when he was allegedly pursued by Foreman who beat him badly. Neal was shot and killed by his attacker. Foreman is the brother of another Michael Foreman who is also serving time for the robbery of a freelance reporter. Foreman’s murder case is still pending before the Belize City Magistrate’s Court and is yet to go to preliminary inquiry.
