Delegation returns from Miami Trade Show

Prime Minister Dean Barrow has traveled through Miami numerous times, but over the weekend his stop there was his first on official business. The PM was the guest in Miami for a four day trade show that included a dinner dance on Saturday night. The event took place at the Miami Beach Resort and was well attended by Belizeans from all over the US and Belize. Minister of Works, Anthony Boots Martinez and Honorary Consul to Florida, Janine Sylvestre Vega told News Five that there was interest in investing in Belize.

Anthony “Boots” Martinez

“The trip was very interesting to meet Belizeans, who want to partner with Belize, with their country. So we’re looking at all the expertise the trade show was well-attended, both locally and yo had people up  there like Travelers, like Vista, yo had the papaya group, yo had the Scotiabank, yo had British Caribbean Bank. It was well attended by both at the local level, people attending from Belize up there. You got the Belize Tourism Board. I mean it was well attended. I mean attendance business wise and in terms of people. It was a heart-warming experience to see the Belizeans and want to partner and doing business with Belize.

Janine Sylvestre, Belize’s Hon. Consul to Florida

“The papaya producers from Little Belize exporters will be perhaps shipping their first container in a few weeks and that was a result of investors here in Florida who were willing to import our papayas as soon as possible.  And that’s just one of the examples – tangible results that came out of this visit.  I know that there are many other similar stories that happened and we’re very pleased because this was the whole intention of the investment trade show and to stimulate trade investment and tourism to Belize and bring awareness to our country’s resources and opportunities”
