False alarm: no riot at the prison
Word of an uprising among inmates at the Hattieville Prison this morning spread like wildfire this morning. There were reports that prisoners were revolting inside the facility and that shots were being fired by wardens and security personnel to subdue them. News Five and various media houses responded to the alarm and drove the fifteen mile distance only to find that the prison compound was totally calm. In fact, it was business as usual as family and friends of inmates checked in during visiting hours. Just how the speculation began remains unclear but what is known is that the Kolbe Foundation is considering implementing strict measures prohibiting visitors from taking food to the inmates. The action to be taken is in light of an increase in the smuggling of drugs and other controlled substances through food and beverage brought in by visitors.
