Is the National Basketball Team ready? Viewers respond

The Belize national team is on the eve of its departure to the Dominican Republic for the Centro Basket Games.  On Thursday we asked: Do you think the national basketball team is well trained for the regional games in Santa Domingo? The margin between those who said yes and those who said no was not wide. Sixty-six percent of our viewers wanted to see more training for the National basketball team. According to our IMS, one viewer texted in “I do not think the team is ready, we need stronger Belizean players.”  A lot of our viewers though have hope for a repeat of our national team’s spectacular performance at the COCABA games in Cancun; thirty-four percent, in fact, believe that our team will do well saying  “our national team has a good coach and they will do great is Santo Domingo.” If you would like to take part in the conversation all you have to do is to send comments to questions@channel5belize.com, text to SMART at 8686, or log on to our e-poll at www.channel5belize.com

No… they need more time to gel.

Even though they lack proper training faclity, product etc; they have a great coach in Marques Johnson and will be fine. it’s tough because you need practice time, funding and up to date training facility. It’s tough on players due to financial reasons as well. the country must set aside funding for development and upgrade the Civic Center. I look foor Milton and crew to do as they did in the 1998 and 2009 games….. VERY WELL!

I personally made sure that the team had few worries in 1998. i t was my pleasure to assist the team and country in the Caricom games….. Nigel Miguel has done a lot behind the scenes to assist basketball in the country. He was the key person in getting me involved….Even though i was informed at last minute, i sent product and will continue to help the country with assistance. I support no particular party but all the people of this great country, Support and do all that we can as people to improve the drive for true development for the younger generation.
