Bank hands over $10,000 to Youth Business Trust
FirstCaribbean International Bank is one of the top supporters of the Youth Business Trust Belize Limited. On Tuesday, FCIB made a donation to the trust in the sum of ten thousand dollars, the fourth cheque to be handed over to the organization since the start of their partnership. The money will be used to assist young entrepreneurs in getting their businesses off the ground. FirstCaribbean’s Country Manager, Glen Smith, handed over the cheque to Youth Business Trust General Manager, Deanna Peyrefitte. Peyrefitte explained to News Five how the donation and the relationship with the bank benefits their operation.
Deanna Peyrefitte, General Manager, Youth Business Trust
“Well, first Caribbean is one of our sponsors, and this is not the first donation from them. They are one of the sponsors that I must say, we are very appreciative of. And they’ve been giving us monies over the course of the last few years. So, we seemingly are one of the organizations that they have identified that they want to help. And I can only believe it’s because of the service we provide to youths. So, the ten thousand we got this time, is not the first amount of money we’ve gotten from FirstCaribbean Bank.”
Delahnie Bain
“How is this money going to benefit the trust?”
Deanna Peyrefitte
“It certainly will benefit us. We are a non-profit organization; so we look forward to sponsorship such as this to assist with all the back office work that we do to provide the service we do to our entrepreneurs. So it will be very helpful. And we are very grateful for the assistance and the sponsorship that First Caribbean continues to offer us. In fact, if I can just say, they’re the type of sponsors and business partners that actually call to tell us we have monies for you; come for it. So, I can’t say enough on behalf of our board and organization that we are very thankful for the assistance they provide.”
Delanhie Bain
“Considering the work that you do and the state of the economy and so on, how important is it for you to maintain this kind of ongoing relationship with an institution like FirstCaribbean Bank?”
Deanna Peyrefitte
“It is absolutely important. It’s critical for an organization such as ours because we are non-profit. So, we do work in partnership with other organizations. And certainly we’re looking for more sponsorship. But, we prefer to call it corporal partners, who are willing to put monies in to assisting youths because we are about our youths and entrepreneurship and so whatever sponsorship we get, whatever business partners or corporate partners we can acquire or form partnerships are very welcome and appreciated.”

Every single donation, development that goes on in the country of belize is done in the city.nothing goes on in all the country.but in th city…and all goes for the N…….,which they are the ones doing all the killings in belize…
Jesse, that comment is so racist…why dont you start an NGO that would help in your area?
Jesse …. Let it out…. That’s it…. let it out!!! Show the world how RACIST you are.
jesse, it seem that the killers are mostly occupying belize city, perhaps the bank did made the right decision to give it to the youth business trust in the city, any help for them will be good for us in the end.
Jesse why don’t you do something about the “problem” you identified. You get up and organize something for the youths else where in the country. It is easy to talk and criticize. In this world there are lots who will sit and talk all day about what is wrong but only a few who get up and act.
By the way if you did not realize it is Belize City where the problems are concentrated. Usually when there is a problem that is where the efforts are concentrated.
There is more that can be said about your comment but I decided to not stoop as low as you did!
Nice one Jesse i bet your girl was stolen from you by one of those N…………s . Hmmmmmmmm.
