Assistant Coach, Siroki, gives his take on the game
Assistant coach Kevin Siroki shares the same sentiment as Keenan Jourdan and says that a win against Cuba on Wednesday is critical to advance in the tournament.
Kevin Siroki, Assistant Coach, Belize National Basketball Team
“Obviously it was very disappointing that any game we lose is disappointing but then losing to Mexico also that made it, you know, it’s just another game though. So we’re not really worried about who it was or whatever but it’s a loss of a game. We go home, look at the stats, we shot thirty-six percent looking at the stats and we’ll go from there. The sun will come up tomorrow.”
William Neal
“In terms of the statistics what do they say about the team and what are the areas that we really have to concentrate on?”
Kevin Siroki
“Well we have to concentrate on our shooting. Obviously we missed a lot of shots today, we missed a lot of foul shots. We missed twelve foul shots today so we need to knock down some shots and then knock down the foul shots because if we’re not playing; we’re not real big so they’re gonna get some offensive rebounds and things but we just gotta knock down shots that’s all.”
William Neal
“Now how do you keep the team from not getting deflated at this point.”
Kevin Siroki
“Oh they’re not deflated at all. We spoke to them about Cuba beating Mexico by twenty something and we’re still in the race with those other three teams—the other two teams, excuse me—and so we just gotta come out and beat Cuba tomorrow and once we do that we’ll be right in the thick of things where we want to be.”

We need a TEAM that plays together more so that they may have a chance to become ….. A TEAM. The INDIVIDUALS need to sharpen their basic skills…. Explain all the MISSED FREE-THROWS.
Sad to say, I cannot call this a TEAM….even sadder is the fact that I cannot support it….Had it been our local guys…..then I would support fully, but a lot of our local players are shun upon when they are the backbone of Basketball in Belize. I believe that time and energy expended on this…..whatever is worth to be called….should have been invested in our local guys…condition and discipline…..I am not proud….as we do not have a Team…we have INDIVIDUALS as Mr. Grey said..
