Anthony Matura stabbed and killed as he disembarked bus

As we said earlier, eighteen year old Anthony Matura, is the latest murder victim. Matura was stabbed twice in the chest and neck sometime after three this afternoon. The teenager had reportedly just disembarked a bus and was heading to his home about three blocks away when his attacker pursued him and pounced on him. Anthony’s brother, Glenford was killed on the morning of March tenth. An eyewitness, Lois Nicholas, says she was taking a nap inside her house not far away on Carpenter Street when her attention was drawn to the youth lying on the ground about a hundred feet away from her house.  Meanwhile, his grandmother, Doreen Gibson told News Five that he left home this morning, as he did most mornings to accompany his father to Belize City.

Lois Nicholas, Witness

Why has everyone in the country gone blind? People get killed in Belize City, we say that it is a south side problem, they get killed in broad daylight outside the city, no one sees anything but the dead body. The police department needs to be restructured but the citizenry needs some common sense slapped into them. Ladyville is not so big that children are getting raped, a young girl loses her leg to a bullet, a 72 yr old is murdered in his front yard, houses are broken into & emptied when the occupants leave & at times invaded while they are there & no one sees a F-ing thing. Peace at any price isn’t working, the silence is killing us.

How much more can a mother’s heart hold, no one has ever ben able to measure that.

I hope the animal is caught before he hurt someone else.

I hope we don’t get use to this type of news later in the future. hopefully the gov. makes drastic changes to implement better service from the so called police officer to keep all evidence handy and not losing the info on the day of court. The gov. should start doing something with the madness of killing that is taking control of our communities while the high political person sit at home with guards outside confortably while we walk in fear every step we make.

Ras Chi town i agree with you about the cameras. However with corrupted cops handling these evidence having these cameras still isn’t going to make a difference.

There must be more of a police presence. They need to patrol more in twos….. even if it’s on bicycles. HIRE AND PROPERLY TRAIN MORE POLICE…..NOW!!!!!!
