Francel Y Chami-ka’s new video with Grammy nominated artist

Sports and music are fields in which young Belizeans hope to excel. Two youths, one from the capital and the other from Cayo, have teamed up to combine their talents in rapping and mixing in a group they call Francel Y Chami-ka. The first video features a grammy nominated artist from Florida named Shadowyze. According to lead singer, Chami-Ka the first video was shot in San Pedro.

“We mostly do Reggaeton. We have a few collaborations with Ras Indio. You will also see in this video we are introducing today, participation from an international artist from Florida, Shadowyze. He was nominated for a Grammy Awards in the early 2000’s.”

“The song came as an idea of the artist Shadowyse. He thought that with the lot of violence happening in Belize, it would be nice to sell something positive about Belize to the international world to show everybody out there to see that Belize has positive stuff and at the same time it’s a way of showcasing our talent.”

“It’s very versatile. It combines the old school Reggaeton with the new version of Reggaeton. The video is really nice; the song is hot as you say. So it is a way of taking a view from the violence to something positive in Belize

“How long have you been producing?”

“I’ve been producing about three years, going on to four. I met these guys in La Cabana for a Reggaeton competition and he called me and said he wanted to do an album and everything just come out like this and here we are now.”

“We did our first together with Francel and Josh was the one that did our beat and we put the song together and that was our first song called “Noche de Pegue” and that was the first video that we did also.”

“We are really hoping to push it before September of this year.”
The music video was directed by Juan Reyes. No release date has been set for the album.
