Shooting victim, Collin Lord, loses the battle for life in hospital

Collin Lord

The third man to die over the weekend due to gun violence is Collin Lord. Twenty-nine year old Lord was injured to the head in an early afternoon shooting a month ago, and on Friday, he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at K.H.M.H. Lord and Raymond Andrews were injured while socializing with a few friends on a verandah at his family home on Lavender Street celebrating the outcome of the N.B.A. Championship on June eighteenth.  At least two gunmen approached and unloaded a barrage of bullets.  When the shooting subsided, both Lord and Andrews laid on the ground wounded.  Lord underwent several surgeries at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital before being transferred to the Belize Healthcare Partners Limited where he was placed in an induced coma while doctors worked on a severe swelling on his brain. His recovery was well underway and he was transferred back to the K.H.M.H. This Friday, just past midnight, he caved in to the injuries and died.  It is believed that Lord may have been shot in a case of mistaken identity. The gunmen were said to have been in pursuit of one Edward Lord who was acquitted in March of last year for the murder of George ‘Junie Balls’ McKenzie, the leader of the notorious Ghost Town Gang.

Who do we crucify, the hospital or the unknown gunman that put him in this position? Was the other name mentioned whom they believe was the intended target a relative?

It was good news when the news reported that this man was well on his way to recovery, the rest of us prayed for him, now he is dead hours after he was transferred back to the K.H.M.H, they probably operated on him for an appendix not swelling in the brain, could happened.

sad story, rest in peace Collin.

The private hospital sent him home because the family got behind on the payments. The ‘hospital’ should be ashamed of this, and should be struck off the list of medical practitioners by the government. Money is more important than a human life in this country, so nothing will be said. There won’t be a Press Conference by the PM or Minister of Health, no aplologies, no explanations, and no compenstation for the family. The murderer will not pay for his crime, as even if the Police make an arrest, the case file will go missing when it goes to court, as he is obviously protected from by the authorities (Same with the poor 8 year old) – Shame on them all!

RIP Collin, yuor family & friends will miss you, and you will be remembered.
