Rogue or hungry soldiers steal food from the B.D.F.

ganney dortch

The police department may have rogue cops and it seems that the Belize Defense Force may have a few rogues of its own.  The B.D.F. amasses and stores vast amounts of food supplies for the hundreds of soldiers stationed around the country. But someone has stolen about ten thousand dollars worth of the supplies from the B.D.F.’s Ration Store at the Price Barracks.  According to Lieutenant Colonel Ganey Dortch, BDF’s Chief of Staff, the military has some suspects in custody.

Lieutenant Colonel Ganney Dortch, B.D.F. Chief of Staff

“Some items were missing out of the store, to a value of some 8000 plus. We’re still looking at what exactly went missing. We know for a fact that stuff did went missing and we are working in close proximity with the local police and our intelligence to see who might have stolen those items from our ration store.”

Jose Sanchez

“But it is definitely a soldier or soldiers?’

Lt. Col. Ganney Dortch

“Well, at present there all indications that it’s an inside job and when I say inside job, not particularly the ration store personnel but B.D.F. personnel. We’re zooming in on leads. I wouldn’t want to say who did it because it would jeopardize our investigation; but it is indeed some BDF solider that might have gone into the ration store and take these items indeed.

“Anyone that you may have, maybe a suspect has gone missing since this incident has occurred?”

Lt. Col. Ganney Dortch

“Well, we have had several stories of soldiers running away or trying not to give information as it relates to the incident. We have done all in our capacity to ensure that we have custody of those prime suspects. As we speak, we do have custody of all those prime suspects we think have been involved in the illegal transaction.”

Jose Sanchez

“It’s an unusual story, but I guess the question to ask now is, are they hungry soldiers? Do they intend to sell it?  I mean its food why would they have risked their job for this?”

Lt. Col. Ganney Dortch

“Well, I wouldn’t want to say its hungry soldiers. It’s more of a malicious act and maybe with the intent of getting finances out of maybe selling these items. As you know, for a fact, these items weren’t taken to their homes. But as is said before, we have leads of more information trickling, which they want to get financially better off.”

Lieutenant Colonel Dortch said that the BDF has liaised with the police department to ensure that the investigation is thorough.

Hey Minister Singh, these guys may be sharing their food with your fat officers. Someone has a heck of a tape worm or a good hustle.

If he does not have a shop & sold the food, charge whomever he sold it to with receiving stolen property, they knew it was hot. A little time in jail may curb their appetite.

I think this case of stolen food by the soldiers should have been dealt with internally.

This is an on going thing with people working for the army, people steal things all the time and goes unnoticed.

Hungry or not, common sense tells you that no one can eat that much food even if they were hungry, …..

it was a business thing, free food for money.

Don’t no one dare compare the BDF with the Belize Police Department…While corruption is rampant in the BPD and its never punished, corruption is extremely rare in the BDF and when it happens they are dealt with according to the BDF’s own court.

At the BDF Justice is swift and corruption is not tolerated.
