Glenford Diego gets 8yr sentence for attempted murder

In the local courts, Glenford Diego was found guilty this past Tuesday for the attempted murder of taxi-driver Mark Sacasa of Kraal Road. Before sentencing was handed down this morning, a mitigation plea was heard from his mother, Rita Lopez. She asked the court for leniency saying that Diego is the father of a child and needs to support his family. After considering all the factors including the fact that at the time of the crime, Diego was sixteen years old, Justice Adolph Lucas, handed down an eight year sentence to run concurrently to a jail term time he is currently serving for other convictions. How much time he will spend in jail, is still yet to be determined since there are discrepancies in the date of his previous convictions. Sacasa had gone to a Chinese shop to buy cigarettes and was heading back to his Kraal Road home when he was approached by Diego who fired shots hitting him on the leg and thigh.
He’ll be back, he is incorrigible. Moms, thanks for not perjuring yourself & giving him an alibi but there is nothing positive that he can bring to his child’s life unless he changes & 8 years may not be enough if at nineteen he already has other convictions.
